Fans of professional sports, particularly hockey were left with a sour taste in their mouth this week, after the NHL made a very disappointing announcement for fans. After many expected that the NHL would truly return in the beginning of November and with games slated for November 1st, the NHL recently announced that they would be canceling even more games in the season. Currently the entire schedule for the month of November has been cancelled until further notice.

While sports fans may be reeling from this recent, announcement there is plenty in the world of entertainment to keep those around the country entertained until the return of hockey. Unfortunately, for many of those living on the East coast, looking to attend Broadway performances, many of the shows in New York have been cancelled through the 31st of October or until further notice due to the effects of hurricane Sandy and the many without power. However, once Broadway productions do start resuming as normal, fans looking to get into the holiday spirit can enjoy special performances of the live adaptation of “A Christmas Story” for which dates have officially been announced. The production will begin next week on November 5th and run through December 30th of 2012. Tickets are now officially on sale.

After her wildly successful release of her album RED, Taylor Swift made an announcement this week revealing she will be taking the road early next year to support her fourth studio album. The country crooner also announced the locations for this tour which will kick off in Omaha, Nebraska on March 13th, 2012. Tickets for the first half of the newly announced tour will be going on sale on November 18th. Taylor Swift’s concerts are notorious for selling out quickly, so interested fans will want to take this into account when planning to buy tickets.

While the announcement of Taylor Swift was a huge surprise to fans, last weeks announcement from Maroon 5, regarding their own 2013 tour, proved to live up to the hype. After a week of sales, Maroon 5 was at the top of the ticket event ranking sales, proving that the concert series truly was as highly anticipated as many made it out to be. Those who are looking to get in on the Maroon 5 action can still get tickets to most of the events on the tour, but will want to act fast, as this event is already selling records for rapid ticket sales.

Earlier this week it was revealed that country superstar, Jason Aldean, would be hitting the road on a nation-wide tour. On Thursday of this week his official tour dates were announced and it was revealed that the country crooner would be visiting historic stadiums during this tour instead of more traditional venues. The singer’s Night Train tour will take him to Fenway Park, Wrigley Field and the University of Georgia Stadium in what promises to be one of the most unique musical tours of 2013. Immediately after the singer’s unique venue choices were revealed tickets went on sale for the event. Those looking to catch the superstar live will want to act quickly as tickets are expected to sell out.

Meanwhile another legendary super star, only from the TV world, was under the spotlight this week thanks to her new Broadway play reveal. The play is called “Scandalous” and it is the brain child of television star Kathie Lee Gifford. A stones throw away from the streets of Broadway is the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the new state of the art arena that opened earlier this month. The center announced on Thursday that they would be brining the New York Islanders to Brooklyn in an official 25 year agreement deal that will uproot the Islanders beginning in the 2015-2016 season. The huge announcement came directly after it was revealed that the Islanders and the rest of the teams in the NHL would be allowed to return to the ice beginning November 1st, after the league reached an agreement deal that allowed the normal season to resume. This will have the Islanders back at home next week at their normal arena at Nassau County. In the mean time, the newly unveiled Barclays Center will be gearing up for one of their biggest events of the year, just weeks after opening.

This event will come in the form of the first official game of the Brooklyn Nets after moving from New Jersey and changing their name. The Nets will not only be christening the basketball courts of the new Barclays Center, but they will also be bringing in a massive crowd of New Yorkers to the first home game of the season as they will be taking on city rivals the New York Knicks. This is a NBA event that fans will not want to miss.  Do you have your tickets yet?
