With the close of 2012 fast approaching; many new announcements have been revealed this week regarding the 2013 schedule for live performances and tours. One of the biggest announcements to come this week came with Trokia Entertainment announced the cast and the kickoff of the national tour of the highly anticipated musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. The new tour will take the over-the-top performance to venues across the country; beginning in Minneapolis, MN. The production will kick off at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on January 8, 2013. Tickets for the tour will go on sale later in the month.
Meanwhile, 2013 will also usher in another classic musical when the hit The Phantom of the Opera gets a remake for the 2013 season. Broadway actor Marc Kudisch announced this week that he will be directing the world premiere of Neil Berg’s The Phantoms of the Opera; which will hit the stage in 2013. The live event and new take on the classic love story will debut on April 4-5, 2013 at Rudder Auditorium. Tickets have yet to go on sale as the official casting won’t be made until early 2013 after auditions are completed in New York City. Fans of the original will want to keep their eyes open for official ticket sales in January as this remake already promises to be a must-see for theatre fans.
Another tour announcement also came this week when it was revealed that the wildly successful tour of the live production of Jesus Christ Superstar will also return to the stage in 2013.
