This week the world of live theatre was dealt several big ticketing announcements, beginning with the opening of the highly anticipated new production of Tennessee Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie. The production will begin on February 2nd in Cambridge Massachusetts and will be headed by Tony Award winning direct, John Tiffany who direct the production Once. The production will also star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones, along with Celia Kennan-Bolger and Drama Desk nominee and movie and television star Zachary Quinto. The production’s preview began on February 2nd, with the play officially opening for the public on February 6th. The play is currently slated to run through March 17th. Tickets for the production are on sale now.
The previews for this big production aren’t the only big previews on the horizon for the month of February. The production of Ann, which is written and performed by award winning actress Holland Taylor, will begin its previews on February 18th. The production which chronicles the life of the legendary Governor of Texas, Ann Richards is expected to be one of the biggest plays of the new season. The play will officially open on Broadway on March 7th at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. Tickets are now on sale and available to the public for the preview shows.
Finally, this week on February 2nd the pre-sale begins for what has been one of the most talked about productions to hit the Broadway stage. On February 2nd; American Express cardholders will have the opportunity to buy tickets for the production of Ill Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers. The play will be starring the incomparable Bette Midler and will be directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello. Tickets will be going on sale to the general public on February 16th. The play will officially open on April 24th, with previews for the production beginning on April 5th. In the production Midler will be starring in a one woman play where she will play legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers.
