Spring Around The Corner

With spring right around the corner, it means that its once again the time of year for music festival tickets to go on sale. This week three of the biggest music festivals announced their ticket sales and it was revealed that some of the biggest acts in music will once again be heading to these all day festivals this summer. One of the first announcements for late spring music festivals came from the Sweetlife Festival. This annual music festival is held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD every year and this year will take place on May 11th. Headliners of the event include Passion Hit, Solange, the Yeah Yeah Teahs and Kendrick Lamar. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, February 8th to the public.

Another big music festival announcement came from down south at the Shaky Knees Music Festival. This annual Atlanta music festival will be taking place May 4-5 and the official line up will be featuring acts such as Gary Clark Jr. and the wildly popular band The Lumineers. Tickets for the annual event will be going on sale February 7th. Fans will be able to buy two day passes to the event which will give them access to all three concert stages and all of the festival activities.

Later on in the month of May, The Lumineers will also be playing at the Sasquatch Music Festival. This Memorial Day weekend music festival will last for four days and is held at the world renowned Gorge in Quincy, Washington. In addition to hosting The Lumineers the festival will also be hosting groups such as the Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, Mumford and Sons, and Dropkick Murphy’s. Ticket will go on sale later in the month; but fans will want to make sure they act fast as this annual music festival is known for selling out. Beyonce, Britney Spears and More….

The entertainment world was hit with two very big announcements from two of the biggest pop icons in the business today, when both Beyonce and Britney Spears made major concert appearance announcements this week. The first big concert announcement came from Britney Spears who revealed that after her successful stint on the hit television show ‘The X Factor’ that she will be heading to Las Vegas for a new residency stay. The news was confirmed by Britney Spears’ manage Larry Rudolf, who revealed that the pop icon would be joining the likes of Cher and Celine Dion in a long-term Las Vegas show. The show will feature nightly performances and will be held at one of the two Caesar’s casinos. Specific ticket information is expected to be released later in the month, where fans can figure out when they will be able to get tickets to the nightly concert event.

In addition to this big pop music announcement, multi-talented performer Beyonce also revealed her own music concert news. Hot off of her 2013 Super Bowl half time performance; the pop star revealed that she will be heading on the road for the first time since giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The performer announced that the tour, deemed the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, will be kicking off on April 15th, 2013. The concert will begin in Belgrade, Serbia and will take the pop icon to numerous European cities for the remainder of the spring. Beginning on June 28th, Beyonce will be heading to the United States and to the Staples Center in Los Angeles to complete the United States leg of the tour. The US portion of the tour will last through August 3rd where the performer will give her final tour performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

This week the world of live theatre was dealt several big ticketing announcements, beginning with the opening of the highly anticipated new production of Tennessee Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie. The production will begin on February 2nd in Cambridge Massachusetts and will be headed by Tony Award winning direct, John Tiffany who direct the production Once. The production will also star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones, along with Celia Kennan-Bolger and Drama Desk nominee and movie and television star Zachary Quinto. The production’s preview began on February 2nd, with the play officially opening for the public on February 6th. The play is currently slated to run through March 17th. Tickets for the production are on sale now.

The previews for this big production aren’t the only big previews on the horizon for the month of February. The production of Ann, which is written and performed by award winning actress Holland Taylor, will begin its previews on February 18th. The production which chronicles the life of the legendary Governor of Texas, Ann Richards is expected to be one of the biggest plays of the new season. The play will officially open on Broadway on March 7th at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. Tickets are now on sale and available to the public for the preview shows.

Finally, this week on February 2nd the pre-sale begins for what has been one of the most talked about productions to hit the Broadway stage. On February 2nd; American Express cardholders will have the opportunity to buy tickets for the production of Ill Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers. The play will be starring the incomparable Bette Midler and will be directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello. Tickets will be going on sale to the general public on February 16th. The play will officially open on April 24th, with previews for the production beginning on April 5th. In the production Midler will be starring in a one woman play where she will play legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers. Tickets will be available soon, will you be seeing Bette Midler take on this big stakes role?

Super Bowl Weekend

Recent ticket information was released this week revealing that tickets for Super Bowl 47, which will be held this week on Sunday February 3rd, have decreased drastically and that tickets for the annual event have not yet sold out. With ticket prices on the secondary market decreasing as well there are still plenty of opportunities for football fans and supporters of either team to get in on the action and get their Super Bowl tickets for the big game. Tickets are still on sale and available to the public now and are being offered for lower prices than they were when tickets were first revealed. Those who are looking to get these discounted Super Bowl tickets will want to act fast before the big game takes place.

In other entertainment news, the latest solo play from acclaimed entertainer Martin Moran will be kicking off this week. The off-Broadway play; titled “All the Rage,” will be opening on January 30th at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The performer; who has had a slew of other wildly popular solo plays has been promising fans that this play will be a unique departure from his earlier works. Tickets for the event have already been selling fast and tickets for upcoming performances are on sale now and available to the public.

Finally, one of the biggest announcements of the week came from one of the biggest music festivals in the industry, the Electric Daisy Carnival. Put on by Insomniac Events, the annual event had some of the biggest music festival numbers of its kind last year when it took place in New York City. Insomniac Events announced that the festival will return to New York City this year and that it will take place on May 17th and 18th at Citi Field. With more than 45,000 fans attending the festival each day last year; supporters are expecting huge crowds again for this music festival. Although the official line up has yet to be announced, fans can expect some of the biggest names in electronic music to attend the event. Tickets will be sold by either two day general admission passes or single day tickets. There will also be VIP tickets available for fans as well. Tickets will go on sale for the festival on February 8th.

Entertainment Update

This week, there was a number of big rock music announcements that have hit the music world hard and had rock fans of all types gearing up for the upcoming summer tour season. One of the biggest announcements of the week came from pop/rock super star Gavin DeGraw. The platinum selling performer revealed that he will be hitting the road this summer for what promises to be one of the biggest events of the season. The tour will take DeGraw on the road along with bands Train and The Script to visit some of the biggest amphitheaters in the entire country. The performer along with his two supporting acts will begin the tour on July 17th with a performance in Cleveland, Ohio. The group will then head out for 18 more major market amphitheater stops and visit some of the biggest venues in the country.  Tickets for this tour will go on sale beginning February 8th.

Another big name performer, Marina and the Diamonds; the wildly popular Welsh singer and songwriter revealed that she would be coming across the pond to take part in a North American leg of her “Lonely Hearts Club” tour. This tour will feature stops in both the United States and Canada. Tickets for the concert are on sale now.

Meanwhile rocker Jim James revealed that he would be adding more shows to his tour, beginning in April and lasting through the summer, to his current tour that has already completely sold out. Another big rock icon that has announced an extension to his tour is Willie Nelson. The performer revealed that after selling out numerous venues; the performer has added an addition 14 shows to his tour deemed the “Old Farts and Jackass Tour” the tour will keep the performer on the road through June 22nd and will feature some of his biggest hits over his several decades in the industry.
