This week, music fans were also treated to a different type of treat when it was revealed that Electric Picnic would officially be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It was uncertain if the music festival would be holding its annual concert again this year, but this week the team behind the Electric Picnic Festival announced that the event would be back and in full force. This year’s festival will be taking place on August 30th and run through September 1st. The festival will once again be held at the Stadbally Estate in Ireland. The company also revealed the lineup for the event which will feature headlining acts from performers such as Fatboy Slim, Bjork, the Artic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Wu Tang Clan and more. Tickets for the annual music festival are on sale now.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest musical acts of all time, The Monkees, has made their own musical announcement revealing their plans for an upcoming American tour called “A Midsummer’s Night With the Monkees.” The tour will feature the three surviving members of the band, Micky Dolenz, Micahel Nesmith and Peter Tork. The tour will kick off on July 15th in Port Chester, New York and will keep the band on the road throughout August. Tickets go on sale May 3rd.
Another big rock music announcement came this week, when legendary singer Beck revealed that he would be hitting the road on a new summer time tour. This tour will kick off with several acoustic only performances from the singer and then a full band tour of the East Coast that will keep the performer on the road for most of the year. During these acoustic performances, Beck will also be appearing at the Newport Folk Festival. Other stops during his full band portion of the tour include shows in Boston and Brooklyn. This tour will be kicking off after Beck sold out his one off gig on May 19th in Santa Cruz, California almost right away.
