Right now in the Windy City, the sports scene is bursting with news and updates about the city’s biggest sports teams. Some of the biggest news from the city’s sports scene of course came from the city’s NHL hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks. After six exciting and very close games, many of which went into over-time, the Blackhawks came out on top in a nail-biting final game against the Boston Bruins. The team scored two goals in the last two minutes to come back from a 1-2 deficit and went on to beat the Bruins in the final seconds of the game and be crowned as the 2013 Stanley Cup champions. With the entire city of Chicago ecstatic about the victory the city has been buzzing about the historic and exciting win. The entire city of Chicago went on to celebrate with a parade and rally that had thousands from all over the city celebrating the big win.
While the Chicago sports scene is overly excited about the recent Blackhawks win, there are many who are already looking to next NBA season now that the 2013 season is over, to see how the Chicago Bulls will perform. While the Bulls are making headlines after letting their assistant coach Adams go, they are also getting a great deal of attention about their recent draft picks. The Bulls took Tony Snell is the first round of the NBA draft, using their 28th pick to select the New Mexico wing. The group also chose the 49th pick to choose Erik Murphy in the second round. Both new additions are big shooters that are expected to add to the team and help them finally get the shooting game they have been looking for. These new additions with the expected return of Derrick Rose next season, is expected to help the Bulls finally make the playoff run they have been hoping to make.
While many Chicago fans are looking both forward and back at the past and upcoming seasons of their favorite teams, most fans are focused on the only Chicago team still in season; the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have been struggling to get a better performance from their bullpen, after losing the last 16 out of 32 games. It seems as though with better pitching the Cubs could turn their season around before they head into the All Star break. After the Cubs reliever James Russell began his season with 17 sequential scoreless outings, however has struggled lately. This pitching issue on top of the injury of Cubs outfielder Ryan Sweeney has the Cubs looking to make some major changes in their line up so they can go into the second half of the season prepared for a long run that will take them into World Series playoff territory or NOT..
