Theater Season Is In Full Affect

This week, there were several new live theatrical productions that officially opened, including the new live action productions of Because of Winn Dixie. This new musical, based off of the movie of the same name officially opens on December 6th at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and will continue through December 29th. The production features a Tony Award winning cast and crew as well as a real dog in the role of Winn Dixie. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public.

Another limited engagement that has many talking is the new production known as The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic. This new live production event features performances by Marina Abramovic, Antony, Robert Wilson and Willem Dafoe. This production first officially debuted at the Manchest International Festival in 2011 and has played to sold out audiences all over the world. Now the production is officially making its US debut. The play will open on Thursday December 12th with its official debut and will run through Saturday December 21st. The production will be held at the Park Avenue Armory. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public for those who want to see this show unfold live.

Another one of the biggest announcements this week to hit the theatrical world came from the team behind the new production Buyer and Cellar. This new comedy, written by Jonathan Tolins is one of the most talked about new productions of the year. This live musical stars television star Michael Urie, known most for his role on the show “Ugly Betty.” This production was the 2013 winner of the Drama Desk Award and now tickets are on sale for the new live production event. Tickets are on sale from now through April 13th.

Finally, one of the productions that everyone in the theatre world is talking about is the new production version of Macbeth. This live event is now taking place at the Lincoln Center Theatre. This version of the famous play is being directed by Jack O’Brien and is starring Ethan Halke in the title role. Tickets are now on sale for this limited time engagement.
