Garth Brooks, The National and Vampire Weekend

By David Jacobs | February 6th, 2014

This week there were several big concert announcements beginning with an announcement from Garth Brooks. Before the country icon releases the official schedule for his upcoming 2014 tour, he has just released tickets for the kickoff to the event, set to take place in Ireland. This will be the first show in 17 years that Brooks has performed in the country. When tickets went on sale, Brooks sold nearly a quarter of a million tickets for his event at Croke Park in just 90 minutes. The sold out event covers three days of concerts and is the fastest in history for any artist. Tour date announcements for the North American leg of the tour are slated to come this month, and if these first shows are any indication of what ticket sales will be like, fans can expect concert tickets to see Garth Brooks live for the first time in more than a decade, will be selling out fast.

This week there was another big announcement, this one from the band The National. The rockers just revealed plans for their massive global tour, set to take place in 2014. The rockers revealed that they will be performing for a month around North America, before heading out around the world to continue their new massive tour event. The Grammy nominated rockers just wrapped up a packed 2013 tour that included several sold out dates and festival appearances and is looking to continue on this type of high demand schedule into 2014. During this tour event, the singers will not only be visiting some of the biggest major markets in the city, but they will also be making a stop in Los Angeles, to perform a concert and introduce the theatrical debut of their documentary “Mistaken for Strangers.” This film covers the band and their 2010 tour and is directed by Tom Berninger, brother of the band’s front man Mike. The North American portion of the tour kicks off with this show in Los Angeles on March 25th. Other major stops include Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, Austin and others. Tickets are on sale now for those who want to see the concert event live. Will you be getting tickets to see Vampire weekend take the stage?
