This week, the team behind the highly anticipated “Jesus Christ Superstar” arena tour revealed that they would be canceling the entire North American tour. The tour was scheduled to have an all star line-up of performers, taking on the rock musical. The original cast included British singer Ben Forster, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, John Lydon of PIL and JC Chasez of N’SYNC. According to the announcement there is no definite reason as to why the shows were cancelled and the team behind the event plans on returning all of the money to ticket holders. Those who bought tickets online or on the phone will receive an automatic refund on the price of their ticket. No other information has been revealed about possibly reopening the event.
Another major announcement this week came from award-winning singer and songwriter John Legend. The multi-talented performer revealed that he will be adding an additional leg to his current spring concert outing. Legend is currently on tour for his “All of ME” spring concert event. However, the singer will now be adding a summertime tour to his itinerary. This tour will take the performer to some of the biggest venues in North America, extending through the month of August. While the spring tour is still going, and set to finish up on June 28th, the summer tour is right ahead. According to the announcement from the singer, the summer tour dates will officially kick off on July 17th, with a performance in Highland, California. From there, the singer will continue to tour through the summer until he wraps up his trek in Morrison, CO on August 26th. The 36-city summer tour will include several stops not only in the United States but in Canada as well, including shows in Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton.
