Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and more

This week, there were several announcements regarding upcoming live show performances. This week it was revealed that “Glee”star Jane Lynch will be hosting a one-night only concert to benefit LGBTI rights. The show is called “Uprising of Love” andwill be a one night-only concert benefit held at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway. The show will feature an array ofdifferent performances and speeches. The show will bring together several big names including Patti LuPone, Sting and BillyPorter. Tickets are still available for the show. Tickets are going fast for this star-studded fundraising event. 

One of thebiggest announcements of the week came regarding the new show about the live Carole King play. The production, called“Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” has just announced their official plans. The life of music of the Grammy Award-winningmusician is set to take the stage in early 2015. This Friday, producers behind the show announced the official plans for a UStour of this production. The show will start with a look at King’s background and her start in Brooklyn. The show willfeature original songs from the production, and the play will tour around the United States and London. 

The show will feature the same story and music as the Award winning Broadway play. The London premier of the production will start on February 10that the Aldwych Theatre in the West End, with the official opening night starting on February 25th. The United States tour will  launch on September 15-20th, 2015 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI. Following the premier, the show will head out on a 12 week limited engagement in Chicago, IL; other stops include shows in Los Angles, Charlotte, Durhamand more. The producers of this new tour have also revealed that more shows and extended stays are expected to be announced sometime in the coming months. 

While casting has not been announced, however a recent report suggested that Jessie Mueller,star of the Tony Award winning show “Beautiful” may headline the show. Tickets are expected to go on sale in early 2015 forthis exciting new tour. Will you be?
