By David Jacobs | December 16th, 2014

With the end of 2014 fast approaching, many live theater fans are already looking towards the New Year to find out what exciting shows 2015 will bring. Recent announcements about the upcoming shows for the 2015 season prove this will be one of the most star-studded years on Broadway in decades.

One of the first big announcements about the New Year came regarding the new production of “Fish in the Dark.” This show will mark the official Broadway debut of actor and writer Larry David. His premier on Broadway is already highly anticipated, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm Star” and creator of “Seinfeld,” will be performing a show following his own words. The play is inspired by the death of a friend’s father, and will feature David’s acting and screenwriting talents in an exciting, dramatic new production. The show officially opens to the public on March 5th. Tickets are on sale now.

Helen Mirren is also making an exciting appearance on Broadway in 2015. The actress, who has already won an Academy Award for playing Queen Elizabeth II, is now taking on the infamous ruler in a new production. Stephen Daldry’s West End production of “The Audience” will also be starring Mirren as the queen. The show follows the queen through 12 different private meetings with all 12 prime ministers that appeared during her 60 year reign as queen. The show opens to the public on March 8th and tickets go on sale this month for those looking to see Mirren take the stage in the iconic role once again.

Movie and television actress, and Broadway star from the original Wicked musical, Kristen Chenoweth is making her much anticipated return to the Broadway stage in 2015. The singer and actress will be starring in “On the Twentieth Century.” Chenoweth will be playing a Hollywood starlet in this much anticipated revival and will be starting alongside Peter Gallagher, who will be playing a bankrupt producer in the show. Tickets go on sale this month and the show opens to the public on March 12th.

Finally, one of the other most talked about shows of 2015 stars “Mad Men” actress Elisabeth Moss, in “The Heidi Chronicles.” The show also has a number of other big name actors in it including Tracee Chimo, Wendy Wasserstein, Pam MacKinnon, Bryce Pinkham and Jason Biggs. The show opens to the public on March 19th and tickets go on sale at the end of the month. Will you be getting tickets to see any of these star-studded performances live next year?
