This week there were a number of big announcements in the world of sports. With the 2013 NBA basketball season coming to a close, the official conference playoffs will be held this coming week. The Eastern Conference playoff match ups are still waiting to be announced, while the Western Conference will be featuring a matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies. Tickets for the conference finals are on sale now and available to the public for those who want to see the conference NBA championships in person and to see who will make it to the professional basketball championships.
In other sports news, the NHL Winter Classic made its own announcement this week as well. Due to the 2013 NHL lockout the January 1st games that was slated to take place between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the NHL will be rescheduling the matchup for New Year’s Day of 2014. The event will be billed as the NHL Winter Classic and will pit the teams against each other at the University of Michigan. The NHL is hoping that the event will help them set the world record for attendance at a hockey game. Tickets for the event will be going on sale this month.
Also revealed this week were plans for the upcoming Rock the Bells event. This week it was revealed that the Wu-Tang Clan, Tyler the Creator and the Big Krit will all be attending the 2014 Rock the Bells Festival. In addition to these performers there will also be holographic images of hip hop icons that have passed away including ODB and Easy E. The festival will be a traveling hip hop event and it will kick off in San Bernardino, California on September 7th-8th. Other stops will include Washington DC, Mountain View, CA and Rutherford, NJ. Each event will last two days. The total roster will include other performers such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Kid Cudi and more.

This week, several big announcements came from the world of Broadway, getting many theatre fans excited about the upcoming Broadway season. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came when it was revealed that Billy Crystal will be making his return to Broadway in a limited engagement run in 700 Sundays. The movie star will return to the stage this fall for a nine-week limited engagement run of the Tony Award winning production. Previews for the event will begin on November 9th and the show will be held at the Imperial Theatre. Tickets to see the production go on sale later this summer.
Another big production has officially opened on the Broadway stage with showings of The Trip to Bountiful now in full operation. The Tony award winning revival features the talents of Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr. The award winning production not only opened officially after successful previews but has been extended to now run through September 1st. Tickets to see the production at The Stephen Sondeim Theatre are now on sales and available to the public.
In other live theatre news, new information has been released about one of the most highly anticipated live productions has been released. The upcoming theatrical concert vision o the Stephen King- John Mellencamp musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland Country, will head out on a new tour this fall. After the world premiere of the production which was held at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, news was released that the production would head out on the tour. The new limited tour will visit some of the biggest venues in the Midwest and in the Southeast. The production will be staged by the artistic director of the Alliance Theatre, Susan V. Booth.
The tour is slated to kick off this fall in Bloomington, IN. The concert style presentation already wowed audiences in the Atlanta premier and now the event will be heading out on the road visiting cities such as Asheville, Knowville, Columbus, OH, Milwaukee and more.

This week the team behind the Austin City Limits Festival made a major announcement about their upcoming event. The event organizers revealed that they would be back for a 2013 tour and that this year’s event would be held over a two week period. The event will take place October 4th-5th and October 11th-13th. This will be the first year that the festival will expand over a two week period. Artists on deck to perform at the event include Muse, Lionel Richie, Depeche Mode and more. Tickets go on sale later this month for those who are looking to see all of the action live.
In other music news, former Hole front-woman Courtney Love revealed that she will be heading out on a number of solo club theater shows. The shows will be taking place in venues across the East Coast this summer. This week when Love revealed the details of the upcoming event she announced that the tour would be kicking off with a June 20th performance in Philadelphia. During the outing, the singer will also be playing six more shows along the coast. The event will end with a June 29th show in Huntington, NY. Tickets to see Courtney Love live are on sale and available to the public now.
Finally in one of the biggest announcements of the week, Country superstar Brad Paisley has just head out on the first leg of his summer tour. This tour called the “Beat the Summer Tour’ will take the performer to some of the biggest venues in the country and kicked off with a show in St. Louis Missouri. As the concert kicked off Paisley also earned two CMT Music Award nominations for his latest singles, making the event an exciting one for Paisley and his fans. The tour will take the performer to 28 different major markets over the course of the event which will include two stops in Canada. Tickets for the rest of the tour events are on sale now for those looking to see Braid Paisley take the stage live.

This week Van Halen made a major announcement concerning some of their upcoming US shows. The band, which has already revealed plans for a mid-June tour in Japan announced that they would be adding a few shows to their current touring schedule to bring their concert event to fans in the United States. The band, which will be supporting their recent release “A Different Type of Truth” will have two United States tour stops on this jaunt. The band will appear at Rock USA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and will also visit the California Mid-State fair in Paso, Robles in July. The current Van Halen line up consists of frontman David Lee Roth as well as Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen. Tickets to these select US shows are on sale and available to the public now.
Another veteran rocker, Pat Benetar made her own announcement this week when she revealed that she will be heading out on a new tour with husband Neil Giraldo and cheap Trick for a short summer tour. The dual headlining event will kick off on June 7th in Lincoln, CA and continue to June 20th in Vienna, VA. After finishing these shows, Benetar and her husband will head out on a second tour that will take them across North America and into the US and to parts of Canada. This two month tour will keep the duo on the road through August. Tickets to see Pat Benetar and to see the singer alongside Cheap Trick are both on sale and available to the public now.
Finally, one of the biggest announcements of the week came when several acts revealed that they would be taking part in Stones Fest. Singer Norah Jones as well as comedian Jason Sudeikis and Patrick Carney of the Black Keys all confirmed that they would be appearing at the festival. The event will visit both New York City and Los Angeles this year. The event, which is slated to celebrate the music of iconic rockers The Rolling Stones will also include performances from Will Forte, Juliette Lewis, Michael Branch, Delta Spirit and more.

This week, new information was revealed to the public about a new concert tribute event for the late performer George Jones. While on his “The Grand Tour” event, which was scheduled to be his final tour of his career, the singer passed away. On April 26th the performer died leaving many fans shocked and devastated. Jones had yet to complete his farewell tour and still had shows as well as a special final performance on November 22nd scheduled.
This performance was slated to be the last ever event for the performer and now many in the music world have decided to turn this concert date into a special tribute event to pay homage to the late country icon. All of the artists that will be performing at the event had already signed up to perform alongside Jones in hie farewell concert. Now these artists will perform on their own paying tribute to the famous country singer. Performers for the event include The Oak Ridge Boys, Kid Rock and more. Tickets are on sale now for those who are looking to see this special concert tribute event live.
Another major music collaboration has also been announced this week, when the official lineup for the new LivingSocial music festival event was released. The team behind the LivingSocial Backyard Festival revealed that legendary rockers Aerosmith will be headlining the event. The show will be a one day only event set to take place on July 13th on New York City’s Randall Island. The goal of the concert event is to showcase some of the most beloved rock icons in the business. Along with Aerosmith the concert will include performances by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Yeasayer and more. In addition to having live musical events at the one day festival, the concert is being set up to mimic a summer time back yard party.

This week, the band Heart also announced a new tour event. The rock duo revealed that they will be hitting the road for a new 2013 tour called the Heartbreaker Tour. The Wilson sisters will also be joined on stage by Jason Bonham during the event, the son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Together the two acts will be performing a thirty minute tribute to Led Zeppelin at the end of every concert. The tour is slated to kick off on June 17th with the tour beginning in West Palm Beach, Florida. There will be more than 30 stops along the tour until it wraps up in Ridgefield, WA. Select concert dates are on sale now and tickets for the Los Angeles show and other stops along the tour go on sale May 10th.
While many have been talking about the upcoming Heart tour; there is no denying that most eyes in the music world have been on Justin Timberlake, as he made a major announcement this week about his upcoming tour. After revealing that he would be giving fans a glimpse at his latest musical creations when he heads out on his 2013 Legends of Summer tour with Jay Z, Timberlake had another announcement up his sleeve for fans. This week, the singer revealed that after the 12 city Legends of Summer tour ends that he will be heading out on his own headlining tour on the 20/20 Experience Tour.
This will be the first headlining trek for Timberlake in six years and during the tour he will be visiting some of the biggest venues in the entire world. The singer revealed information on the first round of tour dates for the event this week, indicating that the tour would be kicking off on October 31st in Montreal. So far, the tour will include 23 different stops in North America that will keep the performer on the road throughout February of 2014. According to the team behind the tour, more dates including information on international stops on the tour will be released this month.

This week Rodrigo y Gabriela, the famed Mexican guitar duo revealed that they will be hitting the road in a new summer time tour. The band will be touring around the West Coast in their tour called the “Area 52” tour. The duo will kick off their tour on May 12th in Napa, California at the Bottle Rock Festival. The band will then continue to tour around the country delivering audiences with performances of some of their biggest songs to date. The tour will keep the band on the road through August 3rd, where they will finish up their tour in Boston, MA. Tickets for the group’s shows are on sale and available to the public right now.
Another big announcement of the week came when TD Garden and Live Nation revealed that they would be hosting an event called Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration. The event will be help on Thursday May 30th at the TD Garden and is designed to benefit The One Fund Boston after the tragic events that took place at the Boston Marathon. The event will feature performances from bands like Aerosmith, Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, Boston, Extreme, Dane Cook, New Kids on the Block and more. Tickets are on sale now.
However, one of the biggest announcements of the week came from St. Louis, Missouri, when the official line up for the two-night LouFest was revealed to the public. This will be the fourth annual event and will take place from September 7th-September 8th in Forest Park at Central Field. During the event more than 30 acts will take the stage and perform at one of the three platforms in place in the city’s massive public park. According to the team behind the LouFest, The Killers and Wilco will be headlining the LouFest and will be closing out the two night festival. Other bands set to perform at the event include Edward Sharpe, Alabama Shakes, the Magnetic Zeros, Local Natives, Jim James and more.

This week, Melissa Etheridge announced that she will be launching a major new tour this summer as she heads out on the road to promote her new album “4th Street Feeling.” This highly anticipated tour will be kicking off on June 18th in Vienna, VA. The tour will have 19 different major market performances and will keep the singer on the road throughout September 10th when she wraps the show up in Saratoga, CA. Fans can purchase their tickets for the event now, to see Etheridge live and on stage.
This week, Garth Brooks made a major announcement about his upcoming tour schedule. The country superstar revealed that he will be returning to the Wynn Las Vegas for two weekends worth of performances. After celebrating the end of this long term residency at the Vegas hotel, Brooks will be putting on a special holiday weekend only performance for fans. Brooks will be performing on both Memorial Day weekend (May 24th-May 25th) as well as the Fourth of July weekend (July 5th-6th). Tickets for the Memorial Day weekend shows are on sale now and tickets for the Fourth of July shows go on sale June 3rd.
While country fans have been excited about the new Garth Brooks announcement, rock fans got a treat of their own when rock icon Guns N’ Roses made their own concert news announcement this week. The rockers revealed they would be heading out on a new US tour this summer to promote the upcoming release of their new 3-D film release of their 2012 Las Vegas residency. The band along with lead singer Axl Rose will be kicking off their celebration on May 26th in San Antonio, Texas. The tour will feature six additional stops along the way including performances at the New York City Governors Ball Music Festival as well as club shows at the House of Blues in San Antonio and Houston.

This week, music fans were also treated to a different type of treat when it was revealed that Electric Picnic would officially be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It was uncertain if the music festival would be holding its annual concert again this year, but this week the team behind the Electric Picnic Festival announced that the event would be back and in full force. This year’s festival will be taking place on August 30th and run through September 1st. The festival will once again be held at the Stadbally Estate in Ireland. The company also revealed the lineup for the event which will feature headlining acts from performers such as Fatboy Slim, Bjork, the Artic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Wu Tang Clan and more. Tickets for the annual music festival are on sale now.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest musical acts of all time, The Monkees, has made their own musical announcement revealing their plans for an upcoming American tour called “A Midsummer’s Night With the Monkees.” The tour will feature the three surviving members of the band, Micky Dolenz, Micahel Nesmith and Peter Tork. The tour will kick off on July 15th in Port Chester, New York and will keep the band on the road throughout August. Tickets go on sale May 3rd.
Another big rock music announcement came this week, when legendary singer Beck revealed that he would be hitting the road on a new summer time tour. This tour will kick off with several acoustic only performances from the singer and then a full band tour of the East Coast that will keep the performer on the road for most of the year. During these acoustic performances, Beck will also be appearing at the Newport Folk Festival. Other stops during his full band portion of the tour include shows in Boston and Brooklyn. This tour will be kicking off after Beck sold out his one off gig on May 19th in Santa Cruz, California almost right away.

This week, a number of big live performance announcements were made regarding the theatrical stage. With these announcements, many theatre fans are excited about some of the upcoming events for this upcoming theatre season. The live production of Silence! The Musical, is now playing on Off-Broadway after a brief hiatus. The production has now resumed performances at the Elektra Theatre. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public.
One of the biggest announcements of the week came when the team behind the Listen Up! concert starring Darren Criss tour revealed that tickets would be going on sale this Saturday, April 27th. The Darren Criss tour will feature the “Glee” star and star of How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying in a concert that will be promoting his new studio album. The tour will kick off on May 29th in San Francisco, California. Tickets are now on sale and available to the public.
While the star of one big musical is heading out on the road for a concert tour event, another big production is launching as well. This week tickets go on sale for the new production of Pippin. This over-the-top jazz musical is now holding performances live on the Broadway stage. The production opened this week to rave reviews and features an all-star cast of performers. Tickets are available now.
While many are excited for Pippin now that the highly anticipated production is officially open on Broadway, others are excited about the new production of Caberet. The new Caberet revival is slated to open next season and tickets are slated to go on sale soon. This week it was revealed that Alan Cumming would be reprising his role as the Master of Ceremonies in the production. This will be a revival from the Roundabout Theatre Company and is slated to be one of the most highly anticipated acts of next season. While official casting has not been confirmed, names such as Emma Stone have been revealed as possibilities of taking the lead in the production. Will you be seeing Caberet when it opens on Broadway?
