This week it was revealed that three of the biggest bands in the country have plans to head out on the road for summer and fall tour events. The first announcement of the week came from the band The Avett Brothers. The performers revealed this week that they would be headlining the 2013 Newport Folk Festival event. This music festival is slated to take place in Rhode Island from July 26th through July 28th. The band will be headlining the event along with an assortment of other bands. Tickets to see The Avett Brothers take the stage live in this music festival are on sale and available to the public right now.

The hit band The Lumineers also made an announcement of their own this week when they revealed that they were adding more estops to their upcoming North American tour. The Grammy nominated band will be adding additional shows to their tour to promote their platinum-selling debut album. After selling out numerous performances, the band revealed that they would be adding a dozen additional shows to their tour, including stops at Coachella, Bonnaroo and concerts in Minneapolis, Cincinnati and Charleston, SC. Tickets for the newly added dates to this concert are on sale and available to the public now.

Meanwhile, the other big announcement of the week from today’s rock music genre came from Fall Out Boy. The rockers, who have been on a recent touring hiatus, revealed that they would be adding new dates to their 2013 global tour. The band’s tour, which will be supporting their new record Save Rock and Roll; will have the rockers on the road throughout most of the end of the summer and into the fall. The new announcement revealed the band will be adding a second North American leg to the tour that will feature stops at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, the Barclays Center in New York and the America’s Cup Pavilion in San Francisco. This week, all eyes will be on the sports world as some of the biggest events of the season get underway. This past weekend marked the official opening day for the regular MLB season. With many teams still waiting to play their first home games this weekend and early next week, millions of fans from all over the country currently find themselves with baseball fever and anxious for the season to get underway. Tickets are now available for all of the regular season MLB games for the 2013 season as well as the home openers that are slated to take place in the next few days.

While baseball season is just getting underway, basketball season is beginning to wind down for the year.  With the NBA playoffs slated to start in just two weeks; there are a number of teams who are fighting for a playoff berth and a handful of teams looking to get the perfect seed in upcoming playoffs. Currently from the Western Conference it comes down to either the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top seed in their conference while the Miami Heat has secured the top spot for the Eastern Conference. This week, music fans are sure to be excited for the upcoming medley of big concert events hitting the live music scene. One of the first and biggest announcements came from the Grammy Award winning rockers, Mumford and Sons. The group revealed that they would be taking the road for a new concert tour event across North America this summer and visiting some of the biggest venues in the entire country. The event, known as the “Summer Stampede” event will kick off on May 21st in Calgary. The tour will be taking the band on the road to some of the biggest venues in the entire country and tickets for the event are on sale to the public now.

Another big concert tour event is being headlined by three of the biggest bands of the 1990s. The rockers Everclear will be headlining their second annual Summerland tour and will be joined on stage by two other chart topping bands, Filter and Sponge. The rockers will be visiting some of the biggest venues in the United States with the tour that begins on May 29th in Ft. Myers, FL. The 33 city tour will keep the band on the road throughout July. However, the biggest announcement of the week was undoubtedly the announcement of the Great Googa Mooga. This music event not only features big name headliners but also food and beers from hundreds of different establishments as well. The event will be returning to Brooklyn this May and will be hosted May 17th-19th. Headliners for the massive music festival will include rockers such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Flaming Lips, Matt and Kim, the Darkness, Sharon Jones and more. This week, theater fans of all types were treated to some big announcements about the upcoming live performance season. One of the biggest announcements of the week came when it was revealed that The Jungle Book would be hitting the stage in a new production event base on the original Disney film. The production will be premiering at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre June 21st-28th and then will visit Boston’s Huntington Theatre in its preview run. Tickets for these productions will go one sale to the public next month for those who are looking to see this exciting, beloved Disney film come to life on the stage.

This week, previews also began for the highly anticipated musical event known as The Big Knife. On March 22nd previews for the show which will run through June 2nd began. The production, which is being put on by the Roundabout Theatre Company will follow Clifford Odet’s iconic tale and will feature Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Bobby Cannavale. The production will be hosted by the American Airlines Theatre in New York City. Tickets for these previews and for the regular season shows are on sale and available to the public right now.

Previews are also now also being shown for The Nance, which takes a look at the world of burlesque and follows the story of Chauncey Miles as he explores the world of homosexual males in the theatre world. This new place comes from the creative mind of Douglas Carter Beane and has been a favorite amongst fans and critics alike. This exciting new musical production features the talents of three time Tony Award winning actor Jack O’Brien as well as two time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane. This production will be taking place at the Lyceum Theatre. Previews for the production are not being shown in New York City with official performances slated to begin in April. This week music fans of country, rap and rock music all received big announcements that have music fans ready for the upcoming summer tour season. The first and one of the biggest announcements of the week came from country music legend Keith Urban. The country crooner announced the second leg of his Light of Fuse Tour that would be kicking off this fall. This tour extension now means that the performer will be on the road through most of the summer and through the fall into the month of November. Tickets for the new 17 tour dates added to the performer’s schedule will go on sale April 5th to the public. Fans will want to act fast, as even though Keith Urban is visiting some of the biggest venues in the world, the performer is known for his ability to sell out massive venues quickly.

Rock fans were also treated to their own big tour announcement when it was revealed that indie-rock legends the Shins would be heading out on the road for a summer tour event. The band will be playing 12 different shows in North America, starting this May, as they visit some of the biggest rock venues in the entire country. This week, several big tour announcements for this summer were revealed, getting music fans ready for the summer tour season. One of the biggest tour announcements of the week came from the 2013 Grammy Award Winning artists for the Album of the Year, Mumford and Sons. The performers announced that they will be heading out on the road for a new tour event that will launch in Calgary on May 21st. During this tour Mumford & Sons will be touring around the country and promoting some of their latest recordings as well as hits from some of their earlier work. This tour will also include a three night stay in Berkeley, California, a stop at Bonnaroo on June 15th. The tour will keep the band on the road through September 15th. While it may be ‘March Madness’ time for college basketball fans, it doesn’t mean that in the world of live entertainment there aren’t other big announcements being released in the month of March. In fact this week one of the hottest rock bands in music today, The National, made a major announcement that has fans of all ages excited about March. The veteran rock group announced that on May 21st they would be releasing their sixth studio album and in order to support that new album they would be heading out on a tour around the country this summer. During this summer time tour, the group will be stopping at some of the biggest venues in the entire country. This includes the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, on June 5th, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on August 10th and the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado on September 17th. Tickets for these events go on sale this week, so fans of the group will want to act fast if they are looking to see the group take the stage live.

While there is no denying that many rock fans are excited to see The National in their new summer time tour, no tour announcement could top the recent announcement from The Eagles. The iconic rock group, who has been performing since the 1970s, recently announced that they would be getting back together to head out on the road for a tour that promises to be unlike any other. This tour, called the “History Tour” is designed to promote their new “History of the Eagles” documentary which will be premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. This week sports fans of all types are on the edges of their seats as some of the biggest sports events of the year are starting to take place. Earlier in the month, spring training began for the MLB and baseball fans are now getting their first glimpse at how their favorite teams will look in the upcoming 2013 season. Currently the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta top the American League and the National League respectively and fans of all types are clamoring for tickets to see all of their favorite teams take the field in the spring training events. While one professional sports season is just kicking off; another one is starting to come to a close. It is near the end of the regular season for the NBA as many teams are looking to get some last wins in during the regular season in hopes to make it to the NBA playoffs next month. This week one of the biggest and most innovative rock concert events was revealed. It was announced that the Atoms for Peace Tour would be kicking off this year and that it will feature some of the biggest acts in rock n’ roll. The tour consists of a group of big rock members including Thom York, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco.

Together these performers will be hitting the road as Atoms for Peace. This fall tour will contain several big stops including a stop on September 27th at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn.
