CTC Sports And Concert Update

This week, several big live entertainment events were announced from both the sports and live music world. One of the first announcements came from the hit rock band, Yellowcard. The rockers revealed their upcoming plans to celebrate the ten year anniversary of their hit album and single “Ocean Avenue.” As part of their anniversary celebration the rock group will be heading out on a new tour event that will take them around to some of the biggest venues in the country. Here they will be performing hits from their album as they also release a new “Ocean Avenue Acoustic” record where they will be releasing new recordings of all 13 songs on this record. The tour will be kicking off in Milwaukee at Henry Maier Festival Park on August 31st. The tour will keep the band on the road through October where they will end their tour at the House of Blues in Hollywood. O.A.R. and Bon Jovi

This week, new information was revealed about the major upcoming tour of the rock group O.A.R. The legendary jam band has revealed that they will be taking a break from recording their eighth studio record to head out on a new tour that will take them across North America. This latest trek will take the rockers on the road to some of the biggest venues in North America as they deliver their signature ‘jam band’ style of music to fans from all over the country. The trip will start on June 7th in Norfolk, VA. From there the rockers will be heading out on a tour through the eastern half of the nation before the event wraps up in Arnolds Park, IA. During these shows the band will also be getting support from performers Andrea McMahon and Allen Stone. The band will be partnering with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America for the event to offer free tickets to US veterans. Regular tickets for the shows are on sale now.

Stanley Cup And NBA Finals

This week, there were several major announcements from the sports world about upcoming professional sports events and activities. The first announcement came when it was revealed that this week tickets to see Real Madrid and the LA Galaxy play are now on sale and available to the public. According to reports, the famous soccer club Real Madrid will be traveling to the United States for a game against the LA Galaxy on August 1st. The game will be taking place in Glendale, Arizona and will be the fourth match of the International Champions Cup.

In the world of professional hockey, four teams are currently battling out to see who will come how with the Stanley Cup. Currently semi-finals tickets are available to see who will come away with a spot to play in the finals. Those who want to see the Western Conference can check out the semi-final games between the Chicago Blackhawks vs. the Los Angeles Kings. In the Eastern Conference the playoffs matchup will be between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins. Tickets for both of these semi-final games are on sale now and available to the public.

Summer Festival Update

This week, new information was revealed about one of the biggest music festivals in the entire country known as MusicFestNW. The multi-venue festival which is held in Portland every year will be taking place this year on September 3rd through September 8th. This year the event will feature performances from more than 30 different artists. One of the many unique facets of this event is that it actually features artists performing in a variety of different venues across Portland. According to reports from the festival, artists will include Animal Collective, The Head and the Heart, Godspeed You!, Young the Giant and more. The festival is actually known for being the third largest music festival in the United States, with thousands attending the vent every year. Coachella and Backstreet Boys

This week one of the biggest announcements for music fans came regarding an event that is not set to take place for at least another year. This is because the wildly popular music festival, Coachella has made an announcement about their 2014 concert festival dates. Even though this year’s festival just finished last month, the team behind the event is already revealing new insight on the 2014 production. Just as it did this year, the 2014 Coachella concert will take place over two back-to-back weekends. The company has announced that the first weekend will be on April 11th-13th and the the second weekend will be April 18th-20th. Advanced tickets for the event will go on sale May 24th at 10:00 AM. This year there are also payment plans being offered for those who need assistance covering the cost of the tickets. As with other years, these Coachella tickets are expected to sell out fast so music fans looking to see all of the action live will want to act quickly to get spots for next year’s festivities.

Theater Announcements

This week, several big announcements were made regarding the upcoming Broadway live theatre season. This week it was revealed that previews for the new Broadway production The Explorers will be kicking off later this month. Previews at the Manhattan Theatre Club will begin on May 28th for the show by Nell Benjamin. The production, which is being hailed as one of the most unique comedic productions of its time, has already received a great deal of praise for its hilarious take on the world of live theatre. The show will officially open to the public on June 20th. Tickets are on sale for this production and the previews are on sales now.

Another new Broadway production that is hitting the stages is the new Broadway musical known as Murder Ballad. This production just hit the stage this month and is currently in previews with outstanding reviews. The official production will open on May 22nd to the public. The production was conceived by Julia Jordan and is being hailed as the ‘hottest’ new musical in all of New York City. The event has been hailed as one of the most unique productions in the live theatre world today and a must see for fans of all types. Sports And Concerts Update

This week there were a number of big announcements in the world of sports. With the 2013 NBA basketball season coming to a close, the official conference playoffs will be held this coming week. The Eastern Conference playoff match ups are still waiting to be announced, while the Western Conference will be featuring a matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies. Tickets for the conference finals are on sale now and available to the public for those who want to see the conference NBA championships in person and to see who will make it to the professional basketball championships.

In other sports news, the NHL Winter Classic made its own announcement this week as well. Due to the 2013 NHL lockout the January 1st games that was slated to take place between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the NHL will be rescheduling the matchup for New Year’s Day of 2014. The event will be billed as the NHL Winter Classic and will pit the teams against each other at the University of Michigan. Theater May Update

This week, several big announcements came from the world of Broadway, getting many theatre fans excited about the upcoming Broadway season. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came when it was revealed that Billy Crystal will be making his return to Broadway in a limited engagement run in 700 Sundays. The movie star will return to the stage this fall for a nine-week limited engagement run of the Tony Award winning production. Previews for the event will begin on November 9th and the show will be held at the Imperial Theatre. Tickets to see the production go on sale later this summer.

Another big production has officially opened on the Broadway stage with showings of The Trip to Bountiful now in full operation. The Tony award winning revival features the talents of Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr. The award winning production not only opened officially after successful previews but has been extended to now run through September 1st. Tickets to see the production at The Stephen Sondeim Theatre are now on sales and available to the public.

Concert News Update

This week the team behind the Austin City Limits Festival made a major announcement about their upcoming event. The event organizers revealed that they would be back for a 2013 tour and that this year’s event would be held over a two week period. The event will take place October 4th-5th and October 11th-13th. This will be the first year that the festival will expand over a two week period. Artists on deck to perform at the event include Muse, Lionel Richie, Depeche Mode and more. Tickets go on sale later this month for those who are looking to see all of the action live.

In other music news, former Hole front-woman Courtney Love revealed that she will be heading out on a number of solo club theater shows. The shows will be taking place in venues across the East Coast this summer. This week when Love revealed the details of the upcoming event she announced that the tour would be kicking off with a June 20th performance in Philadelphia. During the outing, the singer will also be playing six more shows along the coast. The event will end with a June 29th show in Huntington, NY. Rock And Roll Summer Fun

This week Van Halen made a major announcement concerning some of their upcoming US shows. The band, which has already revealed plans for a mid-June tour in Japan announced that they would be adding a few shows to their current touring schedule to bring their concert event to fans in the United States. The band, which will be supporting their recent release “A Different Type of Truth” will have two United States tour stops on this jaunt. The band will appear at Rock USA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and will also visit the California Mid-State fair in Paso, Robles in July. The current Van Halen line up consists of frontman David Lee Roth as well as Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen. Tickets to these select US shows are on sale and available to the public now.
