Modest Mouse, The Black Keys and Cage the Elephant news

This week, popular alternative rock group, Modest Mouse announced plans for extending their current tour. The rockers are currently on the road touring to some of the biggest venues in the United States. After a successful first leg of their tour, the rockers revealed that they will kick off the second lego f their tour on July 11th. This portion of the tour will officially kick off in Saugerties, New York. According to the announcement, the group will have 15 additional stops along their tour schedule that will take them to several cities across North America. Stops along the outing include shows in Montreal, Kansas City, Boise and Queens, New York. During this tour, fans can expect to hear some of the band’s biggest hits to date as well as some of their new singles. During the tour, the band will be joined on stage by one of the three different ‘special guests.’ There is a rotating line up of performers that include Kevin Drew, Mimicking Birds and Brand New. Tickets are on sale for these newly added shows for fans looking to see the group live.

June Entertainment Update

This week, the team behind the highly anticipated “Jesus Christ Superstar” arena tour revealed that they would be canceling the entire North American tour. The tour was scheduled to have an all star line-up of performers, taking on the rock musical. The original cast included British singer Ben Forster, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, John Lydon of PIL and JC Chasez of N’SYNC. According to the announcement there is no definite reason as to why the shows were cancelled and the team behind the event plans on returning all of the money to ticket holders. Those who bought tickets online or on the phone will receive an automatic refund on the price of their ticket. No other information has been revealed about possibly reopening the event.

Allman Brothers Band, Lorde and Lollapalooza

This week the Allman Brothers Band revealed that final plans for their final concert services. The group has just announced that they will be performing their final shows with a return to the Beacon Theatre in October of this year. The band will be celebrating its 45th anniversary and a 14 year run with their current lineup of performers. The band has just revealed the new final dates for their last string of performances which they have revealed will mark their last time working together on stage.

The final shows have been rescheduled (they were originally supposed to take place in March) for the month of October. These performances will be held October 21st-28th at the theatre. During this string of performances the band will be playing some of their biggest hits of their last few decades in the industry. The band’s final show, which will end in the early hours of October 29th, will actually mark the 43rd anniversary of the death of band co-founder Duane Allman. Tickets are expected to go on sale to the newly rescheduled shows this month.

Cher, Demi Lovato Updates

Pop superstar, singer and actress Cher made a major announcement this week regarding her wildly popular “Dressed to Kill” tour. The singer currently has plans to spend the summer and the fall performing at some of the biggest arenas in the North America. The tour officially kicked off on May 25th and now the singer has revealed she will be adding yet another leg to her North American tour. The second leg of this massive jaunt will include a stop starting September 11th in Albany, New York. The singer will be joined on stage by Pat Benatar who will act as her opening act. The tour will feature a dozen stops and keep the singer on the road throughout early October. Tickets are on sale for the new leg of the show now.

However, this week, one of the biggest announcements came from pop superstar, Demi Lovato. The singer officially announced the first leg of her upcoming tour, called “Demi: The World Tour” for fall of 2014. The tour will officially kick off on September 6th in Baltimore, MD. The singer also announced plans to visit 25 additional North American cities during the outing. Lovato will be stopping in several major markets such as Miami, San Diego, Montreal and Chicago. According to the announcement the singer will be announcing additional stops in other countries, outside of North America later this season. Right now the focus is on the first leg, or the North American leg of the tour.

On the Run Tour, Beck and Rixton News

This week, the British-band Rixton made a major announcement about their upcoming tour plans. The group revealed their new plans to hit the road this summer. The boy-band will be promoting their first top 20 single in the United States, a hit known as “Me and My Broken Heart.” According to the band, they will be traveling across North America on a new headlining tour. The tour will officially kick off in late July with their first performance in Boston, MA. From there, the tour will features 12 additional stops. After more than a month on the road the band will wrap up their outing on August 23rd in Los Angeles, California. During the tour, fans of the group can hear some of the band’s biggest hits to date performed live, in addition to their US chart topper. The group will be joined on stage by opening act, T. Mills.

Pearl Jam Tour Info Plus More

This week there were several major tour announcements, starting with a major reveal from hit rockers Pearl Jam. The seasoned rock veterans revealed that following a summertime European tour, that they will be visiting the United States for a new outing. The Seattle-based rockers will kick off their new tour starting in mid-June in Europe. After a month across the pond,they will head to the United States to kick off the US leg of their tour on October 1st. The tour will officially kick-off in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 1st. Currently the US itinerary for the event includes 10 different stops. No word has been released regarding any additional stops along the tour. This itinerary features two headlining weekend performances at the Austin City Limits Festival. The outing will wrap up on October 22nd in Denver, Colorado.

During this tour, fans can expect to hear hit singles from the band’s latest album “Lightning Bolt,” their 10th studio effort. This week, the official lineup for the 2014 LouFest was released, as the festival will once again bring in several big acts to the city. According to the announcement from festival coordinators, the concert event will feature several headlining acts, including Outkast, Arctic Monkeys, Grouplove and Cake. The announcement also revealed that other local acts will be joining the festival as well as smaller bands and groups, to bring 40 different bands together for the festival. The annual event will once again take place at Central Field in Forest Park. This year’s event will be held September 6-7. Tickets to see the concert event live are on sale now and available to the public.

While many are gearing up for the upcoming festival season, one of the biggest announcements of the week came regarding one of the most established bands in rock music today. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers just announced they will be hitting the road for a new concert this year. The group will be promoting their latest album, which is their first record in more than four years. The album, called “Hypnotic Eye” was just released to the public to rave reviews and outstanding commercial success. In support of this venture, the rockers will be heading out on tour, starting August 3rd. The tour will officially kick off in San Diego, California. From there the group will visit 29 major markets across the United States for a tour that will last more than two months.

Broadway Theater Upcoming Shows

This week, the team behind the highly anticipated Broadway production of On the Town, made a major announcement about the upcoming plans for the production. The team revealed that the three lead roles for the production have been cast, with Tony Yazbeck, Jay Armstrong Johnson and Clyde Alves in the head roles. The three seasoned actors will be playing three sailors on a day-long excursion to New York City. The Broadway revival will feature the original iconic music featured in the production and will be held at the Lyric Theatre. The show will be celebrating its 70th anniversary with this new production and will be directed by Tony award winning director John Rando. Previews for the play will officially begin on September 20th at the former Foxwoods theatre. The official opening of the production will be on October 16th. Summer Fun!

This week the official line up for one of the falls most anticipated music festivals was released. This year will be the fifth-annual LouFest and once again it will take place over two days in the city of St. Louis. This year’s event will betaking place September 6th-7th in the city’s Forest Park Central Field. Once again the festival will bring in some of thebiggest names in the industry to the city. In addition to bringing in local talent such as Old Salt Union, Pretty LittleEmpire and Big Brother Thunder, the festival will also have some big name headliners as well. The official headlining actsfor the event include Outkast, Cake, the Artic Monkeys and Grouplove. Another major concert announcement this week came from Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. The famed performer has just announced plans totour in support of his upcoming solo album. This will be the debut solo effort for the singer. The tour will keep the band onthe road throughout most of the summer. During this new outing, the singer will not only be introducing fans to new songs,but he will also be introducing the public to a new backing band. This band will include his son, Spender Tweedy, on drums.

Festival Season 2014

As music festival season is in full swing, there were several major announcements this week regarding some of the biggest festivals of the year. One of the first major announcements came regarding the annual Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. This three day music event annually takes place in the Seattle Center. Every year, there are at least half-dozen stages that feature live music performances and now the official lineup for the festival has been revealed. According to the announcement from festival coordinators, the event will feature performances from Wu-Tang Clan, The Replacements and Foster the People this year. The event will also feature performances from other big names such as Elvis Costello and The Imposters, J.Cole, Scoolboy Q, Capital Cities and Panic! at the Disco. Those looking to see the event live will be able to get both three day passes and single day tickets. This year’s event will officially kick off on Saturday August, 30th and will run until Monday September 1st. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public for those looking to see all of the action unfold live.
