Boston Red Sox

By David Jacobs | August 10th, 2014

It seems that each and every year, no one knows what to expect out of the Boston Red Sox when the trade deadline approaches.  Two years ago, the team was mired in one of its worst seasons in recent memory, completely quitting on first year manager Bobby Valentine by the time July 31st rolled around. It wasn’t until just after the deadline, however, when the unloaded the contracts of Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Josh Beckett to the Los Angeles Dodgers. By ridding themselves of those three players, the Red Sox were able to spend a little extra on players they coveted during the winter of 2012-2013, eventually building a championship contender. Last year, the Red Sox acquired Jake Peavy at the trade deadline, a move that helped them solidify their stranglehold on the AL East division, and ultimately helped them win a World Series crown.

Well, 2014 has not gone exactly to plan for the Boston faithful. Peavy was eventually shipped out as the team skidded into the All-Star break, along with three other members of the starting rotation – Jon Lester, John Lackey, and Felix Doubront.  Johnny Gomes was moved as well, and the Red Sox look to be spending the final months of the 2014 season allowing their young players to get some valuable reps and try to see if new acquisitions such as Yoenis Cespedes, Joe Kelly, and Allen Craig will be permanent fixtures on future Red Sox teams.

Denver Broncos 2014

By David Jacobs | August 7th, 2014

Peyton Manning will surely not be pleased with the final result of the 2013 season. After guiding the Denver Broncos to a historically great regular season, Manning and crew faltered in the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium, succumbing to the suffocating defense of the Seattle Seahawks. Manning looked dazed and confused in the pocket all game long and never seemed to be on the same page as his receivers. After putting up numbers worthy of the record books during the regular season, Manning could not put the icing on the cake and take home the Lombardi Trophy.

But the 2014 season provides a fresh chance for manning and the Broncos as the look to win the franchise’s first Super Bowl since the days of John Elway. The Broncos open with a home game against the Indianapolis Colts, Manning’s former team. Quarterback Andrew Luck will look to capture the upset in the first week, but expect the Broncos to be close to a touchdown favorite in the game. For fans looking to attend, the cheapest Denver Broncos tickets currently available is $129 with an average ticket price of $449.

Atlanta Falcons Schedule and News

By David Jacobs | August 6th, 2014

The Atlanta Falcons are looking for revenge in the 2014 season. Following a dismal 2013 that saw them plummet from the top of the NFC in 2012 all the way down to having the 6th pick of the 2014 draft, Atlanta is looking to bounce back and provide some stiff competition for the rest of the AFC South. The Falcons took offensive tackle Jake Matthews with that first round pick, looking to shore up an offensive line that was their primary weakness last year. In addition, a healthy season out of Julio Jones and Roddy White would go a long way in getting the Falcons back to thirteen wins.

Atlanta Falcons 2

The Falcons schedule will certainly not be easy this year with two key home matchups in the month of September to start the season off. Atlanta opens with a dangerous matchup against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. While the Saints did not win the NFC South last year (falling short to Cam newton and the Carolina Panthers,) they are always considered one of the favorites in the NFC and the Falcons can make a big statement by taking the opener at home. Currently, the average ticket price for the game is $219 with a get-in price of $72.
