This week, the eclectic dance music festival, known as the Ultra Music Festival revealed plans for its 2014 event. According to reports, the dance music festival will be making its return to Miami on March 28th. This will be the 16th year for the event, which will keep going through March 30th. Unlike previous events, next year’s festival will only be one weekend. Although no information will be released about the concert for some time, on sales will be starting next week. For the 2013 concert, early bird tickets sold out in just five minutes, so organizers are once again expecting these tickets to go fast. Sales begin on Tuesday May 21st.
In other concert music news, Lollapalooza has officially released its schedule for its 2013 festival season. The organizers behind the event revealed that there will be more than 100 different artists performing at the three day event. This Chicago festival will be taking place on August 2nd and will run through August 4th. According to the official line up for the event, artists will include Kendrick Lamar, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, The Cure and more. Tickets are still on sale for the festival now.
Finally, the other big announcement regarding the music news for the week came from the wildly popular boy band One Direction. While the group is currently gearing up for their 2013 US summer tour, they are also announcing information about their plans for 2013. The band revealed the first official dates for their 2014 event known as the Where We Are stadium tour. This tour is set to kick off on April 25th in Bogata, Columbia. During the tour event, the boy band will visit some of the biggest arenas in the entire world. This will include stops in South America, Ireland and the UK. The band also revealed that they have plans in place to add more stops on this massive global tour.

This week, music fans of all types were excited when two of the biggest bands from the 1990s announced they would be teaming up for a new concert tour event in 2013. The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers, who are fresh off recent tours in Australia and Europe, have revealed that they will be kicking off a new tour of North America this summer. The tour is slated to kick off on June 14th in Farmingville, New York. This trek across North America will feature stops in Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago and more and will end on July 21st with a performance in Costa Mesa, California. Tickets for the shows are on sale now and available to the public.
Another big announcement in the music world came today when the lineup for the UPROAR Festival was revealed. The annual festival will feature performances from over a dozen different acts and will tour around the country for two months. This will be the fourth annual UPROAR festival and headliners will includes Jane’s Addiction, Coheed and Cambria and Alice in Chains. The tour kicks off on August 9th at the Toyota Pavilion in Pennsylvania. Tickets go on sale next month for the tour.
However, the biggest announcement of the week undoubtedly came from rock legends the Allman Brothers Band. The classic rock and blues band revealed that they would be touring with limited late summer tour dates this summer season. The band, who rarely tour revealed that they would be putting on ten shows this summer at select venues around the country. The band will be supported on the road by acts such as Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Steve Winwood. So far the band has revealed that they will be kicking off their late summer tour August 16th in Scranton, PA. Summer is fast approaching which means that it’s time for some of the biggest summer music festival lineups are being revealed for the 2013 season. One of the biggest announcements of the week came from the organizers behind the Rockstar Energy UPROAR festival. According to the team behind the festival, top bands such as Alice in Chains, Coheed, Janes Addiction and Cambria and Circa Survive will be headlining the event. This will be the fourth annual UPROAR Festival. Every year the festival travels around the country and visits several locations along the way including stops at the Toyota Pavillion. The concert will kick off on August 9th and will wrap up in the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on September 15th. Tickets for the event are on sale and available to the public right now.
In other festival news, a selection of additional acts has officially joined the 2013 lineup for the Bonnaroo music festival event. The concert event originally revealed its lineup earlier in the month and now a number of additional bands will also be taking the stage for the concert event. Bands that will be added to the lineup include Empire of the Sun, Solange, ALO and more. Tickets for the Bonaroo music festival are on sale and available to the public right now.
While some get excited for the summer for the annual music festivals, others know that summer is also time for the annual American Idol Live! concert tour event. This year’s concert will feature the top ten finalists from Season 12 of the American Idol competition. The tour will also feature an 11th ‘fan favorite’ contestant that was selected by fans of the show. The concert will kick off in St. Louis, Missouri on June 29th. During this tour the performers will make 39 different stops along their trek. The tour will conclude in Nashville, TN on August 31st. Tickets for the tour go on sale May 3rd to the public and $1 for all of the ticket purchases will go towards Melanoma Research Alliance. This week sports fans of all types have their eyes set of the NBA as this week marks the official kick off of the 2013 NBA finals. Over the weekend the first round of play got underway and fans were not shorted when it came to the action. With 16 teams currently competing for a spot as the number one organization in the NBA and to win the Larry O’Brien trophy, there is plenty of action surrounding the current tournament. With popular teams like the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls, the Miami Heat, the LA Clippers, the Lakers, the Memphis Grizzles, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the San Antonio Spurs and more all playing in the 2013 NBA playoffs there is no denying there is plenty of action to be seen with this tournament. There are tickets on sale now for those who want to get in on all of this basketball action.
With the MLB professional baseball season now in full swing, sports fans of all types are able to get tickets to see their favorite teams take the field live. After a successful pre-season in terms of ticket sales the MLB regular season games are now being played and the race is on to see who will make it to the end of the season for the play offs in October. With over 100 different games per team left to play in the season; fans have plenty of opportunities to see their favorite teams take the field live during the MLB season.
This week, there was not only big news being revealed about the MLB, but also about the upcoming NFL season. The NFL revealed this week that they would be hosting prime time game match ups during the season for all 17 weeks of the regular season. The NFL also revealed that they would be kicking off the regular season with a prime time game between last year’s NFL champions the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos. With summer right ahead, concert fans of all types have been anxiously awaiting lineup announcements from some of the biggest summer music festivals of the year. One of the most popular music festivals of the season is the New York based Electric Zoo festival. This event features some of the biggest names in electronic music, who come in from all over the world to play a one of a kind festival in New York City. While many music festivals are known for holding their events in large open fields and in rural areas, this event is held right in the middle of the city and is known for being one of the most visited concert events of the summer. The team at Electronic Zoo announced the official line up for the three day event last week and revealed that the 5th annual festival will once again be taking place on Labor Day Weekend.
The event will have two main stages and will feature headlining acts such as Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and Avicil. With more than 20 acts taking the stage, this is a must see event for electronic music fans. Tickets for the festival are on sale now and available to the public.
Another big announcement from the music world came from the band Slightly Stoopid. The rockers revealed they would be taking the stage in a new summer tour this year called the “Kickin Up Dust Tour” the band will be hitting the road along with fellow rockers Atmosphere for a new tour event that will be taking place July 10th through August 23rd. Tickets to see this band take the stage live in their new tour event will be available this week to the public.
Finally the latest big summer concert tour announcement of the week came from some of the biggest bands of the 90’s when the lineup for the Under the Sun 2013 tour lineup was announced. The lineup for the summer tour event will feature bands such as Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Fastball and Vertical Horizon the Gin Blossoms and more. The groups will be heading out on the road for a tour event that will kick off on the 4th of July in Socorro, Texas and feature stops in 36 different cities.

This week, many may have head their sights set on the college men’s basketball national championship game and all of the free concerts being offered in Atlanta as part of the event, but this week, the world of entertainment is being treated to a number of new and exciting announcements that have many geared up for the summer and all of the excitement it will bring now that ‘March Madness’ is over. One of the biggest announcements of the week still came from the world of basketball. With just a few games left in the regular NBA season, some of the qualifying teams for the 2013 NBA playoffs have been announced this week; getting many basketball fans excited for the upcoming playoffs that are set to kick off at the end of the month. Teams that have already clinched a definitive spot in the 2013 playoffs include the San Antonio Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat. The schedule for the NBA playoffs as well as ticketing information is expected to be released next week.
In another type of exciting live entertainment; a new announcement came from the creative minds behind the hit Broadway musical “Once.” The Tony Award winning musical production is set to head out on a new theatre run to help bring the hit musical to more audiences across the country. This week the creative minds behind “Once” announced that the production would be beginning its Phoenix Theatre run and that it would be opening at West End Phoenix Theatre on April 9th. The critically acclaimed musical will be playing at the theatre for an extended run. Tickets to see “Once” live and on stage in Phoenix are now available to the public.
However, the biggest announcement of the week undoubtedly came from iconic rocker Kid Rock. The platinum selling artist announced this week that he would be hitting the road for a new summer tour event. This week two of the biggest rock legends in the history of the music business made announcements regarding upcoming performances, and music fans of all types are reeling about these upcoming performances. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came from rocker and former Beatle, Paul McCartney. The music legend announced this week that he will be playing a one time show this summer for fans. Sir Paul McCartney will be taking the stage at Boston’s famed Fenway Park to play a concert on July 9th. Tickets for this rare opportunity to see the performer take the stage live are expected to sell out fast for this one-time-only show in Boston. Tickets for the July concert event go on sale this Friday morning, April 5th at 10:00 AM.’
The other big rock music announcement of the week came from rockers The Rolling Stones. The veteran rock group announced to the public this week that they would be heading out on the road for a new North American tour across the country. This rare touring event for the band has already had fans from all over the country reeling as many have been waiting to see the group take the stage once again. This latest summer tour will be short and feature stops in only nine different cities. During these stops fans of the group can expect to hear some o the biggest hits from the band’s last few decades in the business as well as some of their latest recordings performed live.
The tour, which is known as the “50 and Counting Tour” will kick off in May at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Other big stops during the tour include stops in the TD North Garden in Boston on June 12th and the United Center in Chicago on May 28th. With only nine stops on the tour; fans looking to see the performers take the stage live will want to act fact when getting their tickets. Tickets go on sale this Monday, April 9th to the public. This week more information on one of the biggest musical events of the year, Lollapalooza, was released. It was revealed that the annual festival will be returning once again this year to Grant Park in Chicago from August 2nd-4th. The festival will have eight different stages of performers and once again will feature a massive line up of bands. This week the daily line ups for the event were revealed with top performers such as The Killers, Mumford and Sons, The Postal Service and more all making appearances at the event. As the festival plans for the event to sell out, they will be releasing 60,000 single day tickets for Wednesday April 3rd for the festival. Other tickets for the event, including passes will go on sale at the end of this week.
While many are getting up for the annual Lollapalooza event, one of the biggest announcements of the week was undoubtedly the announcement from hit pop group The Jonas Brothers. The pop trio has announced that they will be heading out on their first North American Tour in more than three years, beginning this summer. The band has just announced their Jonas Brothers Live tour, which is set to kick off on July 10th in Chicago, Illinois. The tour will keep the band on the road throughout most of the summer and will include stops in 25 different cities. The band which announced the tour on the same day they released their new single “Pom Poms,” revealed that the tour will feature new material they have been recording during their touring hiatus as well as performances of some of their biggest hits to date.
The tour will include stops in several big cities such as Las Vegas, Chicago, LA and Toronto. Tickets for the North American tour go on sale next week and fans are encouraged to act quickly to get their tickets to see the events unfold live, with a history of selling out some of the biggest venues in the country, there is no arguing that their return to the stage is sure to bring fans in, in droves. This week the world of live theatre was dealt several big ticketing announcements, beginning with the opening of the highly anticipated new production of Tennessee Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie. The production will begin on February 2nd in Cambridge Massachusetts and will be headed by Tony Award winning direct, John Tiffany who direct the production Once. The production will also star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones, along with Celia Kennan-Bolger and Drama Desk nominee and movie and television star Zachary Quinto. The production’s preview began on February 2nd, with the play officially opening for the public on February 6th. The play is currently slated to run through March 17th. Tickets for the production are on sale now.
The previews for this big production aren’t the only big previews on the horizon for the month of February. The production of Ann, which is written and performed by award winning actress Holland Taylor, will begin its previews on February 18th. The production which chronicles the life of the legendary Governor of Texas, Ann Richards is expected to be one of the biggest plays of the new season. The play will officially open on Broadway on March 7th at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. Tickets are now on sale and available to the public for the preview shows.
Finally, this week on February 2nd the pre-sale begins for what has been one of the most talked about productions to hit the Broadway stage. On February 2nd; American Express cardholders will have the opportunity to buy tickets for the production of Ill Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers. The play will be starring the incomparable Bette Midler and will be directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello. Tickets will be going on sale to the general public on February 16th. The play will officially open on April 24th, with previews for the production beginning on April 5th. In the production Midler will be starring in a one woman play where she will play legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers. This week, there was a number of big rock music announcements that have hit the music world hard and had rock fans of all types gearing up for the upcoming summer tour season. One of the biggest announcements of the week came from pop/rock super star Gavin DeGraw. The platinum selling performer revealed that he will be hitting the road this summer for what promises to be one of the biggest events of the season. The tour will take DeGraw on the road along with bands Train and The Script to visit some of the biggest amphitheaters in the entire country. The performer along with his two supporting acts will begin the tour on July 17th with a performance in Cleveland, Ohio. The group will then head out for 18 more major market amphitheater stops and visit some of the biggest venues in the country. Tickets for this tour will go on sale beginning February 8th.
Another big name performer, Marina and the Diamonds; the wildly popular Welsh singer and songwriter revealed that she would be coming across the pond to take part in a North American leg of her “Lonely Hearts Club” tour. This tour will feature stops in both the United States and Canada. Tickets for the concert are on sale now.
Meanwhile rocker Jim James revealed that he would be adding more shows to his tour, beginning in April and lasting through the summer, to his current tour that has already completely sold out. Another big rock icon that has announced an extension to his tour is Willie Nelson. The performer revealed that after selling out numerous venues; the performer has added an addition 14 shows to his tour deemed the “Old Farts and Jackass Tour” the tour will keep the performer on the road through June 22nd and will feature some of his biggest hits over his several decades in the industry.
