Even though the holidays are fast approaching, and many are ready to start enjoying their holiday breaks, the world of entertainment is still in full force and several big announcements were revealed from the entertainment world today. While happy, holiday centered news came from the streets of New York City, a more somber announcement was released this week for professional hockey fans. The league released an official announcement saying that games through December 30th would be cancelled as a result of new CBA results. There is no word on whether or not the league has plans for the season to return after the holidays or not.

While these two announcements have had fans of all types buzzing, there are very few announcements that have surpassed the buzz surrounded by the reveal from Justin Bieber this week. BCS predictions already? Not really, but it’s fun to talk about.

08.23.2010 at 11:03 pm by Amy

With the college year ramping up, it’s only a matter of time before the pennants start flying in earnest. So who are the teams thought to have a chance at next spring’s BCS Championship Game? The Crimson Tide again, perhaps, or the Texas Longhorns? Maybe not.

According to Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated, there are plenty of unranked teams with real promise. Arizona State Wildcats could have a good chance this year, thanks to some good transfers and high-calibre players. The UConn Huskies also stand a good chance, as well as the Boston College Eagles, the Purdue Boilermakers and the Navy Midshipmen. Think this will be the year of the underdog? We’d love to hear your opinions over on our Facebook wall!
