NFL 2013 Season

This week marked the return of pre-season games for the official Nation Football League as different teams from around the league faced off and showed fans what they can expect from the different squads when the official season kicks off. While pre-season scrimmages are currently being held, and fans are getting to see a preview of their favorite NFL teams play live. However, what most fans are looking forward to is the official kickoff of the upcoming 2013-2014 season, and tickets are on sale now for the official start of the season.

The biggest and most anticipated first game of the season will undoubtedly be the first official game of the season. This game will feature a matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens. The Baltimore Ravens were of course last year’s Superbowl champions and despite several big lineup changes, they are expected to once again have a highly successful season. The Ravens will be taking on another favorite in the industry and longtime rivals the Denver Broncos. The team will be looking to beat out the Broncos and Peyton Manning in this matchup which will be taking place Thursday September 5th in Denver. The game will not only be the first one of the season but it will also be the first televised Thursday Night Football game.

MLB 2013 Summer Update

With only about 50 regular season games left before today’s MLB teams enter into the post-season, baseball fans of all types are getting excited to see how the end of season will play out. One of the most anticipated upcoming events is actually a game that wasn’t on the original MLB schedule. This is because this month, a rescheduled game from back in April will be taking place with the highly anticipated matchup between the Mets and the Twins. The original matchup was scheduled to take place in April; now this matchup against the two league giants will be taking place on August 19th, 2013. The matchup will be taking place at Target Field in Minneapolis. Tickets are on sale now  for those who want to see the matchup, and those who had tickets to the original matchup will be able to reclaim their seats for the upcoming re-match.

Taking Back Sunday and Beyonce

This week it was revealed that the pop-punk alternative rockers that make up the band Taking Back Sunday will be heading out on a highly anticipated fall tour event of the United States. This new outing will be promoting the band’s summer time record “TAYF10 Acoustic” an acoustic version of their popular record “Tell All Your Friends” as the band celebrates the 10th anniversary of this wildly popular album. Before heading out on the road the band will be playing four different September shows, including two back to back shows in Sayreville, Connecticut where they will be performing the album “Tell All Your Friends” in its entirety.

After these special engagement performances, the band will be heading out on a brand new tour, that will be kicking off on October 11th in Clifton Park, New York. During this new trek, the rockers will be visiting clubs, theaters and other venues in 22 different major markets. The concert event will be wrapping up on November 7th in Long Island, New York. The band is currently working on their sixth studio album and during the tour fans can expect to hear some samplings of the new record. Tickets are on sale this week for the new concert event.

Jeff Beck, Brian Wilson and Elvis Costello

This week, it was revealed that Brian Wilson, from the legendary band the Beach Boys along with famed guitarist Jeff Beck are heading out on a new tour event that will take the duo to many major markets in the United States. The co-headlining tour event will take the performers across North America and keep them on the road through much of the fall. The two Grammy award winning artists will begin their journey on September 27th with a performance in Hollywood, Florida. From there they will be visiting 17 different major markets in the United States.

CTC Blog Image 6The duo will end their tour on October 27th with a performance in Akron, Ohio. Those who are looking to get tickets to the event will find they go on sale to the public on August 9th. Both artists will be supporting their latest recordings with this tour event, and fans can also expect each of them to perform some of their biggest classic hits from their careers while on this excursion.

Kenny Chesney, Arcade Fire and Kid Cudi

This week, country superstar Kenny Chesney revealed that he will not be heading out on the road for a 2014 event. This is a major announcement for country fans as it will be the first time in more than 13 years that the country superstar will not be heading out on a new tour event. Chesney made the announcement earlier this week and revealed that he will be taking this time off to work on his 13th album. Right now, Chesney is on the road on a “No Shoes Nation” tour and there are eight stops remaining, including stops in Atlanta, Detroit and Foxborough, Massachusetts. Tickets are still available for the remaining shows in the tour.

 In other news, the Canadian rock group, Arcade Fire just revealed that they will be heading out on the road for a new tour in 2014 to support their latest studio effort. The company’s new album will be hitting the market on October 29th and to support this new album, the band will be heading out on a big tour event beginning in January of this year. The tour will kick off when the band co-headlines the Big Day Out festival with Pearl Jam and Blur. From there the band will head to Auckland to start a slew of headlining events that will keep the band on the road through February. 

August Entertainment Update

This week, hot off the heels of the celebration of his 50th performance in Las Vegas, Rod Stewart made an announcement revealing that he has extended his contract with The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for two more years. The iconic performer will begin the new two year stay starting this fall. Tickets to see these performances in Las Vegas are now on sale and available to the public.

 In other news, award winning singer and songwriter Fiona Apple has just announced that she will be joining forces with songwriter Blake Mills for a new collaborative effort that will take the two artists on a three week long fall tour. The duo will kick off their US tour on October 3rd with a show in Portland, Oregon. The tour will be called “Anything We Want: An Evening with Fiona Apple and Blake Mills.” During the tour event the artists will be visiting 12 different cities and will wrap their tour up with a two night stay in Washington, DC on October 25th-26th.  During this tour, each artist will not only play some of their biggest individual hits but they will also be performing some new collaborative singles as well. Tickets for this new tour event go on sale on August 2nd.

Almost August

This week the team at Virgin Mobile made an announcement revealing that they will be hosting their fifth annual FreeFest music festival. This year’s festival will be taking place on September 21st at the Merriweather Post pavilion located in Columbia, Maryland. The festival is designed to raise awareness and funds to help put an end to youth homelessness. According to a new statement from Virgin Mobile, this year’s lineup will include some of the industry’s most popular artists all performing simultaneously on different stages, including Robin Thicket, Vampire Weekend and MGMT as well as Pretty Lights and Madeon, among others. This year’s festival will not only focus on rock artists but on electronic dance music as well. Tickets will go on sale to the public on August 9th for those interested in seeing this festival event live.  

 

In other festival news, it has just been revealed that there will actually be a December music festival this year thanks to the first even True Music Festival that is slated to take place in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event will be reportedly taking place on December 14th. The report on the new music festival has revealed that the festival will include 14 different artists that have yet to be revealed. The team behind the festival has announced however that they are planning on creating a completely unique festival experience with the acts they invite to participate. Pre-sales for tickets to this festival event go on sale beginning August 22nd. 

Riot Fest Chicago And More

This week some of the biggest metal bands in the business made announcements regarding their upcoming tour events, revealing their plans for their new fall outings. The metal band Lamb Of God made one of the first big announcements of the week when they announced that they will be heading out on the road with fellow rockers Killswitch Engage. The new tour event will be heading out on the road and visiting some of the biggest venues in all of North America. The tour event will be kicking off on October 22nd in Toronto, Ontario. During the tour event, the bands will be heading out and visiting 27 different cities across the continent. The tour is slated to wrap up in Silver Spring, Maryland on November 26th. During most of the shows, Testament and Huntress will be performing as opening acts for the bands. During the tour event, fans can expect to hear both of the bands perform some of their biggest hits of their careers as well as some of the new singles that both bands have been recording over the past year. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

Avenge Sevenfold and Phish

This week, some major tour announcements were unveiled from some of today’s most popular rock bands, revealing that the upcoming fall 2014 tour season will be jam packed with must see shows. One of the big announcements of the week came from the heavy metal band Avenge Sevenfold, the band revealed this week that they will be heading out on the road for a new fall headlining tour that will take them to some of the biggest markets in the United States. The tour will officially kick off on October 3rd in Chicago, Illinois. From there the band will make 15 stops to major venues across the country in support of the new tour.

 This new tour will be promoting the band’s latest hit record “All Hail the King” which will be their sixth studio effort. While on tour, fans can expect to hear both new recordings and some of their older biggest hits performed live, the band will be playing a number of their newly recorded singles for audiences at this tour, giving them a peek of the new album which will also come out this August. The tour will also be called the ‘All Hail the King’ tour. Tickets to see the band take the stage live in this new event go on sale to the public on August 2nd.

Summer Is Peaking

This week the hit Swedish pop duo known as Icona Pop made a major announcement regarding their upcoming tour plans. The duo behind the chart topping it “I Love it” has just revealed that they will be heading out on the road for a new headlining tour to support their first album, called “This Is….Icona Pop.” The tour event will kick off with a performance by the band at Lollapalooza on August 2nd. From there the duo will continue to tour around North America. Finally the group will head over to Europe for additional shows before wrapping up the tour event in Stuggart, Germany on October 27th. Tickets to see the duo in their first major tour event are on sale now to the public.CTC Blog Image 6In other major news, Grammy award winning performer Justin Timberlake has made a major announcement about his upcoming tour experience. Even though the performer is only a few dates into his current tour with Jay-Z, he has made an announcement regarding his next solo tour, called “The 20/20 Experience” that will already keep the performer on the road throughout 2014. This week he revealed that he will be adding five additional stops on the tour due to the overwhelming popularity of the event so far. Timberlake will be kicking off his headlining arena tour on October 31st in Montreal, now there will be additional stops including stops in Chicago and Brooklyn.
