Summer Festivals

With summer right ahead, concert fans of all types have been anxiously awaiting lineup announcements from some of the biggest summer music festivals of the year. One of the most popular music festivals of the season is the New York based Electric Zoo festival. This event features some of the biggest names in electronic music, who come in from all over the world to play a one of a kind festival in New York City. While many music festivals are known for holding their events in large open fields and in rural areas, this event is held right in the middle of the city and is known for being one of the most visited concert events of the summer. The team at Electronic Zoo announced the official line up for the three day event last week and revealed that the 5th annual festival will once again be taking place on Labor Day Weekend.

The event will have two main stages and will feature headlining acts such as Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and Avicil. With more than 20 acts taking the stage, this is a must see event for electronic music fans. Tickets for the festival are on sale now and available to the public.

Summer Action

This week, music fans who love the music of the 1960s were treated to a real concert tour surprise when it was revealed that The Turtles and several other acts from the 60’s would be taking the road in a new tour. This will be the fourth annual “Happy Together” tour and it will take several acts including Flo and Eddie, Gary Puckett and the Union and more on the road. The tour will start on June 8th with a performance in Biloxi, MS and will include 54 different stops during the trek. Tickets are on sale now for the tour.

Another great act from past generations, Brian Wilson, also made some announcements this week about his tour. Along with Beach Boys bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks, Wilson will be on the road for a new summer show event. The three Beach Boys are out celebrating the group’s 50th anniversary on a new tour and due to overwhelming popularity the band is adding several additional shows to their summer concert. Tickets are on sale now for these shows.

Broadway Update

This week, big news about several upcoming Broadway productions were unveiled to the public, beginning with an announcement about the upcoming musical Motown, which is set to hit the Broadway stage later on this month. Previews for the production officially began this week, and audiences have already been singing and dancing in the aisles as this musical, filled with some of the biggest Motown hits in history, takes the stage. After much anticipation about the production was built over months of waiting, previews are now officially being shown for the event and tickets are on sale to see these previews live. As for regular tickets to the production, those will go on sale to the public in Mid-May for those who want to see Motown the Musical when it officially debuts on the Broadway stage.

There was also major news released this week about the upcoming production of The Cripple of Inishmann. The production is slated to be a West End performance and has already gotten a great deal of attention from critics and Broadway fans alike who are anxiously awaiting its release. This week it was revealed that Daniel Radcliffe, made famous from the Harry Potter movies would be cast in the production and that the official opening day for the performance would be June 8th. Tickets are expected to go on sale next month to see this Miachel Grandage-directed production.

This week one of the most legendary performers of all time, Sir Paul McCartney announced that he would be adding new shows to his 2013 “Out There” tour. The announcement came as a surprise to music fans and to the many who have been looking forward to see the performer and former Beatle take the stage live. Among the new performances that Paul McCartney has added are shows at the Amway Center in Florida for May 18th, a show in Tennessee at the Fedex Forum on May 26th, a performance at Fenway Parkin Massachusetts on July 9th and more. All of these shows will provide fans with greater opportunities to see Paul McCartney in a rare live tour performance event. Tickets for the newly added shows and for the rest of the dates on the performer’s worldwide tour are on sale and available to the public now. Those who want to see Paul McCartney perform live will not want to miss out on this opportunity to see him take the stage in person.

NBA Playoffs, Kid Rock and More

This week, many may have head their sights set on the college men’s basketball national championship game and all of the free concerts being offered in Atlanta as part of the event, but this week, the world of entertainment is being treated to a number of new and exciting announcements that have many geared up for the summer and all of the excitement it will bring now that ‘March Madness’ is over. One of the biggest announcements of the week still came from the world of basketball. With just a few games left in the regular NBA season, some of the qualifying teams for the 2013 NBA playoffs have been announced this week; getting many basketball fans excited for the upcoming playoffs that are set to kick off at the end of the month. Teams that have already clinched a definitive spot in the 2013 playoffs include the San Antonio Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat. The schedule for the NBA playoffs as well as ticketing information is expected to be released next week.

Rolling Stones

As one of the biggest rock n’ roll groups of all time, it should come as no surprise that when The Rolling Stones announced their latest concert tour event, the entire world has been on the edge of their seats to find out more about this massive rock event. The band’s tour titled the “50 and Counting Tour” was announced last week and the band revealed that there would be nine different shows taking place on this North American arena tour. With several days in between each stop on the nine-city tour, the 50 and Counting jaunt leaves some room for the band to add additional shows if desired.

However, currently the band is staying mum on whether or not they will actually add additional shows to their tour, but they have revealed that additional stops are a possibility. However currently, Keith Richard, Mick Jagger and the rest of The Rolling Stones have their eyes set on the confirmed dates for their 2013 outing. The band’s tour is currently scheduled to kick off in Los Angeles at the Staple’s Center near the beginning of May. However, the exact date for the kick-off has yet to be revealed until scheduled events from the NHL playoffs are scheduled.

More Summer Fun

This week it was revealed that three of the biggest bands in the country have plans to head out on the road for summer and fall tour events. The first announcement of the week came from the band The Avett Brothers. The performers revealed this week that they would be headlining the 2013 Newport Folk Festival event. This music festival is slated to take place in Rhode Island from July 26th through July 28th. The band will be headlining the event along with an assortment of other bands. Tickets to see The Avett Brothers take the stage live in this music festival are on sale and available to the public right now.

The hit band The Lumineers also made an announcement of their own this week when they revealed that they were adding more estops to their upcoming North American tour. The Grammy nominated band will be adding additional shows to their tour to promote their platinum-selling debut album. After selling out numerous performances, the band revealed that they would be adding a dozen additional shows to their tour, including stops at Coachella, Bonnaroo and concerts in Minneapolis, Cincinnati and Charleston, SC. Tickets for the newly added dates to this concert are on sale and available to the public now.

MLB, NBA and NCAA

This week, all eyes will be on the sports world as some of the biggest events of the season get underway. This past weekend marked the official opening day for the regular MLB season. With many teams still waiting to play their first home games this weekend and early next week, millions of fans from all over the country currently find themselves with baseball fever and anxious for the season to get underway. Tickets are now available for all of the regular season MLB games for the 2013 season as well as the home openers that are slated to take place in the next few days.

While baseball season is just getting underway, basketball season is beginning to wind down for the year.  With the NBA playoffs slated to start in just two weeks; there are a number of teams who are fighting for a playoff berth and a handful of teams looking to get the perfect seed in upcoming playoffs. Currently from the Western Conference it comes down to either the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top seed in their conference while the Miami Heat has secured the top spot for the Eastern Conference. Official ticket sales will begin once the bracket has been finalized for the 2013 playoffs; and sports fans will want to act fast as soon as the official line up is announced s these playoff tickets always go fast.

Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney Tours

This week two of the biggest rock legends in the history of the music business made announcements regarding upcoming performances, and music fans of all types are reeling about these upcoming performances. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came from rocker and former Beatle, Paul McCartney. The music legend announced this week that he will be playing a one time show this summer for fans. Sir Paul McCartney will be taking the stage at Boston’s famed Fenway Park to play a concert on July 9th. Tickets for this rare opportunity to see the performer take the stage live are expected to sell out fast for this one-time-only show in Boston. Tickets for the July concert event go on sale this Friday morning, April 5th at 10:00 AM.’

The other big rock music announcement of the week came from rockers The Rolling Stones. The veteran rock group announced to the public this week that they would be heading out on the road for a new North American tour across the country. This rare touring event for the band has already had fans from all over the country reeling as many have been waiting to see the group take the stage once again. This latest summer tour will be short and feature stops in only nine different cities. During these stops fans of the group can expect to hear some o the biggest hits from the band’s last few decades in the business as well as some of their latest recordings performed live.

Summer Fun

This week more information on one of the biggest musical events of the year, Lollapalooza, was released. It was revealed that the annual festival will be returning once again this year to Grant Park in Chicago from August 2nd-4th. The festival will have eight different stages of performers and once again will feature a massive line up of bands. This week the daily line ups for the event were revealed with top performers such as The Killers, Mumford and Sons, The Postal Service and more all making appearances at the event. As the festival plans for the event to sell out, they will be releasing 60,000 single day tickets for Wednesday April 3rd for the festival. Other tickets for the event, including passes will go on sale at the end of this week.
