Phish, Phish and More

This week it was revealed that the hit band Phish would be taking the road in a new live tour event. The wildly popular jam band has been part of the music scene for years and is often hailed as one of the most popular bands to see live in concert. Much to the delight of fans from all over the country, the Vermont-based rockers will be heading out on a tour that will start this summer. The 2013 Phish summer tour event will features several multiple-night stays in venues such as Commerce City, Colorado, Saratoga Springs and San Francisco. The band will be performing three nights in a row during these three spots. Although the band is making a handful of several night residencies, fans should still get their tickets early as this group is known for selling out some of the biggest arenas in the country fast night after night. This week it was revealed that a 2013 Watershed Festival would be taking place in George, WA. This will be the second annual Watershed Festival, and news regarding the headliners for the event has been revealed this week. The three-day country festival and camping event will feature acts such as Luke Bryan, Toby Keith and Brad Paisley all performing at the massive Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA. Tickets for the massive country music festival will go on sale March 15th. The public will be able to get tickets and passes to see all of the action unfold live for this massive event.

However, for rock fans, one of the biggest announcements of the week came from the veteran rock group, Depeche Mode. The rockers revealed that they will be going on tour in North America this fall for a massive outing that will take them to some of the biggest venues in the entire country. During this tour fans will be able to see some of the group’s biggest hits of all time performed live in a new concert spectacular. The tour is slated to kick off on August 22nd in Clarkston, Michigan and will take the rockers to 19 different locations. Tickets go on sale for the event on April 6th to the general public. As one of the first big tour announcements for the fall, tickets to see Depeche Mode live are expected to go quickly.

Summer Is Coming

This week, rapper Big Boi from the group Outkast revealed that he would be hitting the road later this month for a new tour promoting his recent album, “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.” The new tour will take the rapper to venues across North America is a tour he calls his “Shoes for Running Tour.” The multi-talented performer will be visiting some of the largest concert venues in the United States during this concert tour event and tickets are on sale now.

Also, this week, tickets went on sale for the new 2013 show for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The veteran rock band will be making a one time show appearance this summer at the Milwaukee based Summerfest Music Festival, which is the largest music festival in the entire world. The band will be holding their concert at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee as one of the headlining events of the two week music festival. Tickets for the concert are on sale now; those who want to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in this one time concert event will want to act fast.

This week it was revealed that several big live performance events would be hitting the stage for fans of live theatre. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came when it was revealed that Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays would be returning to the stage for eight performances of the hit 2012 musical comedy A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Returning to the stage by popular demand, the production will be holding eight performances at The Old Globe theatre in San Diego, California. Since performances are limited the tickets are expecting to go quickly. Those who are looking to get tickets to the event will want to act fast as they are sure to sell out quickly.

Another big live event that is making its return to the stage is one of the most popular musicals of all time, the Phantom of the Opera. A newly revamped version of the production with new leads and performers will be hitting the Broadway stage in March of 2013. Those who are looking to get tickets to see the new fresh faces of this production will be able to get their Phantom of the Opera tickets on sale now.

This week it was revealed that famed performer David Byrne and singer and songwriter St. Vincent would be heading out on the road to support their new collaborative album. The new album, titled “Love the Giant” will take the two performers to some of the biggest venues across the country, and to concert venues in the United States, Canada and Europe. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public.

As the hit rock band Emblem3 currently tours around the country in their latest tour trek, which has completely sold out in venues around the country, the rock group has revealed that they will be adding more touring dates for their fans.  The band will be taking the road after finishing up their handful of East Cost shows this month in a new tour event known as the “Goin’ Back 2 Cali Tour.” This massive tour will take “The X Factor” breakout stars on a large jaunt around the country beginning in April in New York City and ending in California. The band developed a massive following on their ‘X Factor’ appearance and many fans from all over the country, which can be seen in their latest set of concert appearances, so tickets are expected to sell out quickly. MGMT, Big Boi, Summer Camp Music Festival and The Postal Service

While many bands have already announced their spring touring plans, a number of bands are still announcing new dates.  New York based duo MGMT have recently announced an 18-date tour.  The band is set to release their third album in June, and their tour takes them from University Park, Pennsylvania, home of Penn State University, on April 26 to the Bunbury Music Festival on July 13 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The band is set to play 15 headlining shows across North America in April and May and is slated to play three festivals, Firefly in Dover, Delaware, Kanrocksas in Kansas City, Kansas, and the aforementioned Bunbury in Cincinnati.  Tickets for some dates are already on sale while others are set to go on sale within the coming days.

Concert Tour News

With many spring concert tours in full swing and many of the biggest acts in music already on the road for their annual tours, there has been a great deal of news surrounding performers who are adding additional legs to their concerts. Veteran rock band, Soundgarden recently announced that they would be adding a second leg to their current tour due to overwhelming popularity. The tour, called the “King Animal” tour currently as the band on the road touring around North America. The band announced that they will be adding a second round of US tour dates to their tour and 18 more stops to their current trek. The second leg of the tour will begin May 3rd. Tickets for the recently added concert dates are on sale now.

Another long time rock group, Motley Crue also made announcements this week regarding their current tour. The band is currently on the road with fellow rockers KISS co-headlining an Australian tour. Due to the overwhelming success of their current outing, the group will be adding a month of arena shows to their concert event. The band will be kicking off these shows in Canada, where they will stay for a month until playing just a single show in the United States in Gilford, NH to end their tour. Tickets for the new leg of this tour are now available to the public for those who want to see the long time rock group take the stage live.

This week, tour dates for some of the biggest concert events from some of the biggest rockers in the industry were revealed, having many music fans excited for the summer concert tour season. The first big announcement came from country superstar Brad Paisley. The multi-talented performer announced the official dates for the first leg of his “Beat This Summer Tour.” The tour will take Paisley across the country and to 28 different cities throughout the summer. The tour begins on May 9th in St. Louis, Missouri and the concert will be promoting the singers upcoming new album, Wheelhouse. Ticket will go on sale this month for these concert events.

Meanwhile, iconic rock group Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have revealed a new nationwide tour that will bring the band to numerous intimate theaters and festivals throughout the late spring and into the summer. The nationwide tour will pull the band away from recording their latest record to perform some of the biggest hits and newest recordings for fans across the United States. The concert will kick off on May 16th in Evansville, IN and tickets are on sale now.

Theatre Update

This week, in the world of live entertainment, there has been a great deal of buzz around the world of Broadway.  This week, tickets officially went on sale for the Burlesque Drama The Nance.  The highly anticipated production will be making its Broadway debut on April 15th, with previews scheduled for the Lyceum Theatre for March 21st. The Broadway production, which will be starring two time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, is slated to call the Lincoln Center Theatre home. Tickets are now officially on sale for the Douglas Carter Bean drama and tickets are available to the public for both the previews and the official production of the highly anticipated musical.

This upcoming week in the world of Broadway has even more going on thanks to some major news from some of the biggest productions in all of Broadway. This week marks the last week in productions for four shows: “Manilow on Broadway,” “Mary Poppins, “The Other Place” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf”.
