Theater Time

This week in the live theatre world; numerous announcements were revealed regarding the world of live music. One of the biggest announcements came when with the announcement of a Woody Allen musical called Bullets Over Broadway. This unique musical production will follow the film of the same name and will feature the five time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. With this successful Broadway legend and the talent of Woody Allen behind the production, this new musical is already highly anticipated as many are anxious to see Allen’s talents on the Broadway stage. This musical adaptation of the Woody Allen Academy Award nominated film was announced this week and is scheduled to premiere during the 2013-2014 Broadway season.

Audiences will be treated to the new opening of the highly anticipated live musical production Viva Forever! This theatrical performance will feature an array of songs made famous by the 1990s pop music group; the Spice Girls. The musical was developed in hopes to bring the world of live theatrical productions to a younger generation of fans. This music along with an original book by Jennifer Saunders will tell a new tale of following your dreams, friendships and of course ‘girl power’ the production officially opens on December 11th and will call the London Piccadilly Theater its home.

Entertainment Sunday

This week the entertainment world was given several big announcements regarding upcoming events in the theatre, sports and music realms. The announcement began with a big reveal from the Broadway world when the highly anticipated musical Golden Boy opened up on Broadway this week. The 1937 story received a makeover and retelling that will bring the classic tale to life in a whole new way. The new production will feature former War Horse star Seth Numrich in the starring role. The premier of the new Broadway musical is set for this week and tickets for those looking to see the event live on the Broadway stage are now available to the public.

Meanwhile, the final match ups for the 2013 college bowl series was announced earlier this week and it was revealed that the BCS title showdown would take place between top ranked Notre Dame; and number two team Alabama. Ticket sales have already set records for this upcoming matchup so those who are looking to get tickets to see the national championships live will want to act quickly. Along with the announcement about the BCS title game; match ups for the Cotton, Chik-Fil-A, Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl; all big college bowl games were also revealed. All current bowl game tickets are now on sale and available to the public just in time for bowl season which is set to kick off after the holidays.

As the holiday season quickly approaches, there are many music and concert fans who are not only getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year, but those who are gearing up for 2013 and all of the exciting live music events that this year has in store. Recent announcements from the music world have revealed a number of big, exciting concert events that will be taking place in 2013 and that are sure to delight music fans of all types.

One of the biggest announcements came from one of the biggest music legends in the history of rock: Eric Clapton. The guitarist revealed earlier this month that he would be taking part in a major United States tour in 2013. The concert is set to kick off on March 14, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona at the US Airways Center. The concert will go on to include 15 different cities across the United States. Tickets are currently on sale for all concert events on this upcoming tour.

BCS National Championship Game, Rolling Stones and More

With the new year fast approaching, for college football fans it means its time for college bowl season. Most importantly, it means the BCS National Championship game. Ticket sales were officially announced this week when it was decided that undefeated Notre Dame would play against the number two team in the country; the Alabama Crimson Tide. From the moment tickets were announced this week, tickets have already been in high demand and started selling quickly. Those who are still looking for tickets to the January 7th national championship will want to act fact as these tickets are already on track to sell out quickly, for this annual college football event.

While football fans were treated to this big announcement this week; rock and music fans received an even bigger announcement this week when the iconic rock band, The Rolling Stones announced that they would be joined on stage by Gary Clark Jr. and Mary J. Blige for their December 8th concert. This fast approaching concert, taking place this weekend will be held at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. The new announcement came as a surprise to fans who were already anticipating this huge event. Those who are looking for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these three acts together on the stage will want to act quickly in order to see this act live.

With the close of 2012 fast approaching; many new announcements have been revealed this week regarding the 2013 schedule for live performances and tours. One of the biggest announcements to come this week came with Trokia Entertainment announced the cast and the kickoff of the national tour of the highly anticipated musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. The new tour will take the over-the-top performance to venues across the country; beginning in Minneapolis, MN. The production will kick off at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on January 8, 2013. Tickets for the tour will go on sale later in the month.

Meanwhile, 2013 will also usher in another classic musical when the hit The Phantom of the Opera gets a remake for the 2013 season. Broadway actor Marc Kudisch announced this week that he will be directing the world premiere of Neil Berg’s The Phantoms of the Opera; which will hit the stage in 2013. The live event and new take on the classic love story will debut on April 4-5, 2013 at Rudder Auditorium. Tickets have yet to go on sale as the official casting won’t be made until early 2013 after auditions are completed in New York City. Fans of the original will want to keep their eyes open for official ticket sales in January as this remake already promises to be a must-see for theatre fans.

Broadway

This week marked the opening of one of the most highly anticipated acts to make its way to the Broadway stage with the premier of Dead Accountants. This new Broadway number is opening over the weekend and will feature the work of several big name performers and industry legends as well as a performance from television and movie actress Katie Holmes. The play opened officially on November 29th and this week will feature a normal schedule of performances. The play will be taking place at the Music Box in New York.

Meanwhile, another big premier to open this Saturday December 1st is a new revamping of the Stephen Schwartz musical Working. The play which originally appeared on Broadway in 1978 will make its triumphant return to the stage in New York with previews showing now and the official debut on December 12th. Those who want to see this famed musical live in a whole new light will want to act quickly when getting their tickets to this event.

Cirque du Soleil and More…..

This weekend will mark a momentous occasion for rock fans as two of the biggest names in rock music will have their concert tickets go on sale this weekend. Both Eric Clapton and Bon Jovi will start selling tickets to their 2013 tour dates beginning this Saturday. Both tours will mark the return of their respective artists after a brief hiatus from the industry and both tours will are expected to sell out quickly. Those who want to get tickets to see either of these rock legends perform in 2013 will want to act fast on December 1st when tickets go on sale.

While fans of the rock world will undoubtedly be clamoring for tickets to see both Clapton and Bon Jovi play live; the rap world got an announcement of their own this week when rap icon, Kanye West made his own concert announcement. The rapper and singer announced that he would be playing three shows at the end of 2012 at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. This will be one of the first solo performances by the rapper in some time, as he has been focusing on his fashion career. Based on previous ticket sales for the rapper and the fact that no official tour has been announced for any time in the near future, fans can be sure these tickets will sell out right away. Tickets will go on sale next month for all three show dates.

Nascar, Clapton and Pro Bowl Oh My!!!

The sports and music worlds have been dealt a number of treats this week just in time for the holidays, and these big announcements have fans of all types excited for the months ahead. One of these big announcements came from one of the biggest legends to ever enter the music business; this of course is the incomparable Eric Clapton. The legendary musician announced this week that he is planning a major tour for 2013. The tour will kick off on March 14th of 2013 in Phoenix Arizona at the massive US Airways Center and will continue on through the spring. Tickets for the event will go on sale November 30th.

One of the other big announcements of the week came from the world of NASCAR and came hot on the heels of their highly successful Sprint Cup preview earlier this month. The successful event proved that some of the biggest planned changes for the 2013 NASCAR season will be implemented for the upcoming year of racing. One of the biggest changes will be the introduction of the new “Gen 6” race cars; vehicles designed to operate more like street cars. New changes like this were announced along with the reveal that tickets for these 2013 events are now on sales for those who are ready to get in on plenty of NASCAR action next season.

Winter Holiday Time

With the Thanksgiving holiday officially over with for the year, it’s time for the Broadway world to get in the Christmas spirit. Based on the recent announcements of the week, the city of New York is ready for the holidays and already in the Christmas Spirit. One of the most notable Christmas productions to kick off this holiday season is A Christmas Story The Musical. The play is based off the hit 1983 hit film of the same night. As one of the most popular Christmas movies of all times has officially launched on the Broadway stage as of this week and will run through the 30th of December. Tickets to see the musical adaptation of this comedic holiday tale are now available to the public.

Those looking for another opportunity to see a comedic take on the holiday season, will want to check out another movie to musical adaptation with the Broadway production of Elf. This Broadway show is based off the hit Will Ferrell comedy of the same name and follows the story of Buddy the Elf; an orphan human who grows up thinking he is an elf until he travels to New York City in search of his biological father. This production is now running at Al Hirschfield Theatre and will run through January 6th so those who want tickets to this family-friendly musical experience.

SnowGlobe Festival 2012 Plus

Now that the Thanksgiving holiday has passed, this week the music world was given a big treat for the holidays as the dates and lineup for an outstanding new musical event were revealed this week. This event is known as SnowGlobe Festival 2012 and it will run from December 29-31 in South Lake Tahoe, California. The event will feature over 40 acts that will all be scheduled in between other events during the long weekend. The event will be headlined by Dadmau5 and Wiz Khalifa. Tickets are on sale now and expected to sell out quickly so those who want to see the event live will not want to wait.

Another big announcement came from an entertainer of a different breed this week, when the legendary master of horror, Stephen King, made an announcement to the public. Starting this week, on November 24th, the author will be entertaining audiences with a new medium when a new stage version of the Stephen King novel Misery hits the stage. The stage adaptation will feature the work of Academy Award winner William Goldman who will be taking the story from the 1990 film adaptation and transforming it for the stage. The new production is now playing live at Bucks County Playhouse and fans of the author and of the original film will not want to miss the opportunity to see this unique performance live on the stage. Tickets are now on sale and available to the public.
