NHL Back On, Super Bowl and Theater

In the entertainment world a great deal of buzz has been surrounding film adaption of the best-selling book series, Fifty Shades of Grey, with millions of fans of the novels anxiously awaiting movie news and to find out who will be cast in the film’s coveted leading roles. While the movie adaptation is still far off, fans of the erotic story have been delivered a special treat this week as it was announces that 50 Shades! The Musical; a musical production based on the best-selling E.L. James books will be given a New York City premier date. The production, which features 11 original songs, will feature a ladies book club that decides to read the book together and provide their own hilarious interpretation of the novel. The musical will make its New York premier this week; January 11th at the Gramercy Theatre; tickets for the production are on sale now and available to the public.

Entertainment News January 10th

The music world has been treated to several big ticketing announcements this week as several bands have revealed that they would be hitting the road in 2013 for new tours. One of the first big announcements of the year came from Major Lazer as the group revealed they would be hitting the road for their “Free The Universe” World Tour. This new tour announcement came straight from main DJ of the group; Diplo as he revealed the group would be heading out on the road beginning on February 28th. The tour will kick off on February 28th in Toronto and the band will visit 34 different cities and 12 different countries on this tour. The tour will be in support of the group’s new album and tickets for the tour will be on sale this week.

Other rock news announcements of the week came from rock groups The Black Keys and the Flaming Lips. The groups announced that they would be heading out and doing several performances together this spring, in a unique live performance spectacular that fans will not want to miss out on. Both bands are known for their signature high energy performance style and for delivering some of this most energetic liver performances in the business; meaning this will be a big treat for live music fans. Tickets for the shows will go on sale to the public Friday January 11th.

January 2013 News

The world of entertainment is back in full swing after the New Year and now entertainment fans of all types are being treated to special events that are sure to make 2013 an exciting year. One of the biggest ticketing announcements of the year so far came from the world of sports as the NHL revealed that the lockout for the 2012-2013 season is now officially over as the league and players have finally reached an agreement. Although many assumed the season would be over for good, a portion of the regular season will still be played in 2013. Hockey Tickets will be going on sale this week after the official schedule is released and games are expected to begin January 19th. Those who have been waiting months for the season to take place will not want to miss out on this opportunity to see NHL action for the first time in nearly a year.

New Year New Year

With the new year in full swing, the entertainment world has been full of big announcements as the new season begins. For fans of rock music one of the biggest announcements came from the legendary rock trio Green Day. The band announced this week that they will be heading back on tour in 2013 supporting their latest album “Uno! Dos! Tre!” a three album set that was released in September, November and December of 2012. The new tour has many fans excited after the band cancelled their last tour early due to health issues with their lead singer. This new tour is set to kick off on March 28th of 2013 and will feature 23 additional stops which will take the band throughout North America, Europe and Russia. Tickets for the event will go on sale next week for the tour.

Meanwhile the sports world has also had their own big ticket announcements especially surrounding this week’s games which will be the first round of playoff games for the NFL. With many NFL fans looking to get NFL playoff tickets to see their teams in this post-season play. Tickets for this round of NFL games are now for sale and those who are looking to get tickets to see their favorite teams play as they vie for a spot in the Super Bowl will want to act fast to get their tickets during the post-season.

As the New Year was ushered in this week many began focusing their sites on what the world of entertainment would bring in for the year 2013. With several big announcements regarding 2013 live ticket events, concert and music fans have plenty to be looking forward to in 2013. One of the biggest upcoming concert events for 2013 came from the famed country crooner Taylor Swift. The country superstar announced late in 2012 that she would be heading on the road in 2013 for her Red Tour across the country. The live concert is set to kick off on Wednesday March 13th at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha and will keep the singer on the road for most of the year. Tickets to see Taylor Swift in 2013 are on sale now.

End Of 2012

With New Year’s Eve on the horizon, several live theatrical productions will be making their final performances this week before closing for the holiday season. Productions including Elf, A Christmas Story, and A Christmas Carol will be making their final performances this week and into next week so those looking to get tickets for these shows before they end for the season will want to act fast. The world of Broadway was dealt some other big news this week with the death of two iconic Broadway actors who have recently passed away, Charles Durning and Jack Klugman. Both actors passed away this Monday and Broadway will be paying tribute to the fallen actors this Friday evening during all of their performances to observe the passing of these two talented performers.

All Broadway productions will be paying homage to the actors. This includes the highly anticipated Broadway musical “Dead Accountants” starring famed movie actress Katie Holmes. The production, which was highly anticipated by both Broadway fans and fans of the actress just announced it will be closing two months early and play its final performance on January 6th. Those who want to see Holmes take the stage live and see this modern musical in person will want to get their tickets now before the production ends.

Entertainment This Week

This week the world of entertainment has been focused on the holiday season; with many of the biggest touring acts in music right now taking a break to enjoy the holidays at home. While most musical acts took a few days off from their tours before gearing up for touring action in 2013; the theatrical world was a buzz this holiday season with hit live theater musicals about the holidays from A Christmas Story to Elf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas are all heading into their final week of performances before the holiday season comes to a close. Most of these Broadway productions are only slated to play through the first of the year, so fans will want to get their tickets now before these plays close until next holiday season.

While there has been minimal news from the music and theater world around the holiday season, the professional sports world has been in full swing. With regular season NBA games lasting through the holidays; there has been plenty of basketball action to keep fans excited. With the New Year approaching it also means that more of the big bowl games on on the horizon. With several bowl games already played, some of the biggest ones yet, including the Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl and the BCS National Championship are all set to kick off around the New Year. Tickets are still available for college football fans who want to get in on all of this action during bowl season.

Christmas Sports and Theater

With the week of Christmas celebrations ahead the official Christmas week kicked off with a blast with several big announcements in the entertainment world. However for most people this week is all about seeing Christmas-themed shows, music and events. Although the NHL season is currently suspended indefinitely, there will be plenty of NFL action on Christmas Eve with Monday Night football. The NBA will also be partaking in the holiday celebrations with several games taking place on Christmas day. This includes a highly anticipated match up between the new Brooklyn Nets as they take on the highly rated Boston Celtics on Christmas Day. Tickets for these games are still on sale and available for those looking to get in on all of the holiday action.

However, this week in entertainment isn’t only about big Christmas sports events, it is also all about the holiday themed celebrations. This of course includes the Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas production at Madison Square Garden. This is a live entertainment event unlike any other that is sure to fill the seats of the massive venue each and every night. Tickets are available to the event now and will be one sale through December 30th.

Festivals, NCAA Football, Probowl Etc…

This week it was revealed that the long running Bamboozle Festival, held annually in the Asbury Park, New Jersey area. The festival, which annually draws in around 100,000 fans who gather together to hear the eclectic musical stylings of this festival, has been officially been cancelled for 2013. However, another music festival made a big announcement this week when the official line up for the SnowBall Music Festival was revealed.

This annual music festival, held in the spring of Winter Park, Colorado, revealed its first set of line ups and the date of the festival. The SnowBall Music Festival will take place in March 8-10 in 2013. So far the following acts have been approved for the 2013 festival; Portugal, The Man, Pretty Lights and Big Gigantic. Sixty other acts are still slated to make an appearance at the festival and perform on the festival’s four different stages. Tickets to the festival will go on sale next year.

Broadway and Off Broadway

The theatrical world received a big treat this week when the play Water by the Spoonful hit the NYC stage this week. This play was written by Quiara Alegria Hudes and was the 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner in the drama category. This much talked about drama covering topics like addiction, recovery, family and military has captured the hearts of many already and will be hitting the Second Stage Theatre in NYC this week for live performances. Tickets are now on sale to see this much talked about production live.

While this low key performance will have many inspired, a much larger scale production is taking place down the street in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are currently on sale and productions are in full swing for the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Live production. The live musical event will feature famed actor Jeff McCarthy as the Grinch and the play will feature the classic music from the major motion picture. This event will be held in the massive Madison Square Garden arena in New York City and is expected to sell out night after night as thousands of families come to get in the holiday spirit and see this production live. Tickets are still on sale for a few performances that will run through December 30th.
