You’ve got three years to catch Celine in Vegas, starting… now.

By Amy | March 2nd, 2011

If you’re like many people, you’ve heard the name Celine Dion for decades – and for good reason. She’s been one of the most easily recognized voices in show business for years. And starting on March 15, 2011, she’s about to kick off her newest run in Las Vegas, with three-year engagement at the Roman Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace – the very same place that was initially built to host her hit show “A New Day” in 2003!

“I’m coming back home to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace,” says Celine, “and I’m very excited about it. With the orchestra and the band we’re going to be able to perform our songs like never before.  The repertoire is going to be extraordinary, a mix of timeless hit songs made famous by some incredible artists, along with all the favorites my fans like to hear me sing.  It’s going to be a very beautiful show and I think we’ll be raising the bar higher than we’ve ever done before.  There’ll be some truly wonderful moments.  I can’t wait!”

Def Leppard starting new tour this summer

By Amy | February 28th, 2011

The multi-platinum-selling group Def Leppard may have taken a break, but they’re definitely not done. Def Leppard is hitting the tour circuit again this year, complete with their iconic light and laser show, which means big music and even bigger visuals.

Accompanying them will be 70′s and 80′s rock legends Heart, the band responsible for a whole lot of American idol performances (some better than others – thank you Carrie Underwood).

If 80′s glam rock is your thing, bookmark our Def Leppard concert tickets to catch them when they’re in your town – dates start in June of this year!

Kenny Chesney’s biggest one yet

By Amy | February 11th, 2011

If you’re a Kenny Chesney fan, this has been your year already, as “the hit single “Somewhere With You” celebrates its third week in a row as #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart – and even more impressively, his songs have spent more time at the top of the chart than any other artist in the past eleven years! Kenny’s latest album, ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey,’ also debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Country Album charts.

But then again, if you’re a fan, perhaps you already knew all this. But did you also know that he’s added 41 new dates to his upcoming tour, making it his biggest tour ever? Check out the show listing here for dates all the way from March to December, and spanning all corners of the country. We can almost assure you he’s coming *somewhere* near you, so if you’ve been a fan, this is the year to finally see him live!

A General Update…

By Amy | February 2nd, 2011

So how long has it been since we gave something away to those of you who follow our blog, twitter, newsletter and Facebook feeds? We know, we know. Clearly too long. There’s a new opportunity in the works, though, along the same lines as the Scavenger Hunt we did last August, so watch for more news on that!

Also – we posted this on Facebook, but it bears repeating here as well: If you’re holding tickets for an event that’s been impacted by the recent snowstorms in much of the country, do NOT throw those tickets away! You may need them to obtain refunds, and if the show is rescheduled, you’ll almost certainly need those tickets to get in to the new show.

Two shows left for Lang Lang this month!

By Amy | January 28th, 2011

Called “the hottest artist on the classical music planet” by the New York Times, Chinese pianist Lang Lang is a figure you may not have heard of, but should. He’s been listed in Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and Lang Lang’s performance in the opening ceremony of Beijing’s Olympic games in 2008 inspired so many children to play classical piano that the Today Show gave it a name: “the Lang Lang effect.”

He will be playing several shows this year overseas, but US concertgoers have two opportunities to catch him live if they work fast: he’s playing tomorrow night (Jan 29) in Buffalo, NY, and on Jan 31 in Raleigh, NC.

If you miss those, he’ll be in California in July, but that’s half a year away. So catch him while you can!

Want to see more bands playing at this year’s Coachella? The list is a long one:

Goodbye Gerry Rafferty

By Amy | January 4th, 2011

A sad note for saxophone fans, as Gerry Rafferty, best known for his iconic song “Baker Street,” has passed away at the age of 63. Younger fans unfamiliar with Baker Street may recognize his song “Stuck in the Middle With You” by Gerry Rafferty’s band Stealer’s Wheel (the song was originally a giant hit in 1972, but Quentin Tarantino gave it new life by featuring it in the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack).

Also – if for some reason you haven’t heard Baker’s Street, take a minute now. It’s worth it.

Newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

By Amy | December 15th, 2010

This morning, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced their newest inductees into the acclaimed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Alice Cooper Band
Neil Diamond
Dr. John
Darlene Love
Tom Waits

Each inductee was chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, and became eligible for the recognition 25 years after the release of their first recording. President and CEO Joel Peresman said today of the five newest members, “They truly represent the variety of people that have defined and continue to influence music and the business of Rock and Roll.”

What do you think? Did the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation get it right? Myriad voices on twitter seem to think Jon Bon Jovi was deserving of the spot, but it would seem the voters spoke otherwise. Maybe next year? Regardless, a big congratulations to the newest artists on the list!
