Broadway August Update

This week there were several major announcements regarding the upcoming live performances of some of the most talked about shows of the season. The show Cannibal, The True Story of the Only Person Convicted of Cannibalism in America, is a new production from the Tony award winner Trey Parker. The funny-man, who is known for his work with the television show South Park and the Broadway hit Book of Mormon. Parker has just entered into a new deal with Toronto’s Starvox Entertainment and the Randolph Theatre. With this new venture, the production will be premiering in Toronto. More details on tickets or the show will be announced later in the summer. The company will also be hosting Evil Dead- The Musical later this fall. In October of 2014, Toronto will be home to the hilarious live stage show that takes the elements of the classic horror film and puts them into a live musical show. Theater in Chicago has always flourished yet when many think of great theater and Broadway hits they think of New York’s thriving and world-renown theater scene. Chicago Theater Million Dollar Quartet

A powerfully charged musical described as a “smash hit,” this show was inspired by the infamous first and only time musical recording session that took place in 1956 between Jerry Lewis, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Carl Perkins. This show will revive your musical soul. It’s now playing at the Apollo Theater.

Book Of Mormon, Evita and Picnic

This week, the world of Broadway was treated to the triumphant return of one of the most praised live musical productions when Picinic made its return to the stage. The play re-opened on Broadway on December 14th after it was announced earlier in the season that Picnic would return to oBroadway due to popular demand.  This drama about a small-town community looking to see beyond the confines of their town and to the world beyond their home when an out-of-town stranger arrives to their community. The dramatic play already had a successful Broadway run and is returning once again after a tour across the country. The play, inspired by the Pulitzer-Prize winning book from William Ingle is once again playing live on Broadway and tickets are currently available for those looking to see the production live.

Those who are looking for a live Broadway experience beyond the streets of New York City will also be able to catch an award winning production when The Book of Mormon heads out on the road. Additional tour dates were announced for the production which will be visiting venues around the country into 2013. The wildly successful Broadway play, from the creative minds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, has already gotten the attention of audiences from all over the globe and now thousands more from all over the country will get the opportunity to see this inspiring musical live. Tickets to the event and the recently added dates, are now on sale and available to the public.
