September Concert Update

In major concert announcement news, the singer Phillip Phillips revealed their new plans to take their act on the road. The pop/folk artist revealed his autumn tour dates that will keep him on the road from September-December. The singer and 2012 American Idol winner will perform nearly 40 different shows during this massive tour event. The performer has currently been on the road with popular jam band OAR. During his solo effort, Phillips will be promoting songs from his second album “Behind the Light,” which was released earlier this year. The singer’s tour will officially kick off on September 12th in West Point, New York at the West Point Military Academy. Other major stops include shows in Washington, DC, Boston, Austin, Dallas, Kansas City and more. Tickets to see the performer live are on sale now and available to the public. During the tour, Phillips will be playing at more intimate venues, meaning fans are encouraged to act fast in order to get tickets to see the singer live.

This week singer and songwriter David Gray announced plans to extend his current US tour plans. The performer will be kicking off his US tour this Friday on August 1st in Boston, MA at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. This will be the performer’s first full US tour in four years. The singer not only made the announcement about his tour plans this week but he also performed a new track from his latest album “Mutineers” through Yahoo Music. David will not only be kicking off his tour this week, but he will also be extending the original plans for his tour throughout the fall with 17 new cities being added to the itinerary. During these tour events, fans can expect to hear some of the singer’s biggest hits as well as some of his most recent singles, all performed live. Tickets for the newly added shows go on sale August 1st, August 8th or August 9th depending on the show.

Steely Dan and Zac Brown Band News

This week the Zac Brown Band revealed that they will be adding a second show to their massive Fenway Park event. The group revealed that they will be adding a second Boston date to their tour after selling out the massive venue in just minutes. This makes the group only the second country act to sell out the 37,000 seat ballpark. The rock/country group will then head out to several other tour stops throughout the spring and summer that will take them around the United States. This includes stops in Lincoln, NE on May 24th and 20 additional shows in major amphitheaters around the country. The second Fenway Park concert is scheduled for June 27th. Tickets for these and other shows for the group are on sale now to the public.

This week one of the biggest announcements of the week came from Steely Dan. The group revealed that they will be heading out on a new tour event that will officially kick off this summer. The tour will start in Portland, Oregon on July 2nd, and will be called the “Jamalot Ever After Tour.” After kicking off this July, the rockers will head out on the road to 47 different stops throughout the United States and Canada. During this outing, the band will be performing some of their biggest hits to date as well as some of their latest recordings. The duo, who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is planning on delivering fans with live performances of what have been some of their most popular songs.

One of the biggest pop singers in the world, Katy Perry has just revealed her plans to head out on an exciting new tour. This tour will be known as the Prismatic Tour and it will bring the raven-haired singer to concert venues across the country. In January of 2014, Katy Perry took the stage to reveal her plans for her upcoming tour event, revealing that the massive outing would officially kick off on June 22nd.

Upon revealing the specifics of the tour the “Dark Horse” singer revealed she will be visiting 46 different cities, starting in Raleigh, North Carolina and then traveling throughout the country to some of the biggest cities in the United States. When choosing the stops for this massive tour, the singer revealed that she will be stopping at some cities she has never visited before, per the video requests of her fans. Some of the big stops along the way include Atlanta, New York, Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia and more. This is the third headlining concert tour for the singer.

Allman Brothers At Beacon Theatre and Rascal Flatts News

This week the hit band the Allman Brothers revealed exciting new details about their upcoming annual Beacon Theatre run. The group revealed that they will be extending the run from the planned 10 show stand to an extended 14 shows. After the first ten dates for the show sold out quickly, the group announced their plans for the four additional shows. According to the announcement the new shows will be taking place March 25, 26, 28 and 29th. During these performances, the band will be joined on stage by other musical acts Haynes and Trucks. Tickets for these newly unveiled shows go on sale January 31st to the public.

In other concert news, the iconic country band the Rascal Flatts announced that they will be touring for most of 2014. The singers already toured through much of 2013, and will continue to entertain fans with their live performances in the new year. According to the rockers they will be touring for most of the year in an extensive outing that will back two different releases for the band. The band has also revealed that they will be joined on stage by two big name performers for this new tour as Sheryl Crow and Gloriana will both be joining the group on stage. The new tour will be called “Rewind.”

700 Sundays and Miley Cyrus

In the middle of the week, two of the most well-known performers in the entertainment business made two very different announcements about their upcoming scheduled performances. One of the first announcements of the week came from the multi-talented Billy Crystal. The actor revealed that he will be making his official return to the Broadway stage with his Tony Award winning play, 700 Sundays. This unique play is actually an autobiographical re-telling of his childhood, in Manhattan. The actor will be taking on the roles of several different parts, playing different characters that had influenced his life as a child. When the show originally debuted in 2005, it won a Tony Award and now the actor is looking to bring the show back to the stage. The production will officially re-open on November 13th at the Imperial Theatre in New York City. The run is scheduled to last through January 5th. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public for those looking to see this unique performance unfold live.

Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar

This week, may live entertainment fans have been reeling because both college and professional football has returned over the week. While seeing some of these top football teams take the field live are undoubtedly the focus of many, there is another hot ticket that even more are talking about, as this week rap superstar Kanye West made a major announcement about his upcoming tour plans. 

Rock and Roll

The private performer who has taken a long hiatus from touring has just announced that he will be heading out on a new 23 stop tour that will take him all across North America. This new tour event will be promoting the rapper’s latest album “Yeezus.” This is the same album that debuted this year and quickly shot to the top of the Billboard Top 200 charts. 

 

The performer also revealed that he will be joined on stage with opening act, Kendrick Lamar. During all but five of the stops of this new tour event, Kendrick Lamar will serve as the opening act for the performer on “The Yeezus Tour.” The tour, which is being presented by AEG live has been long anticipated by both fans of the performer and those in the music industry. The tour is slated to officially open on October 19th in Seattle, Washington. From there Kanye West will head out on several additional stops before he closes out the tour on December 7th in Houston, Texas.

Tons Of Bands

This week Rodrigo y Gabriela, the famed Mexican guitar duo revealed that they will be hitting the road in a new summer time tour. The band will be touring around the West Coast in their tour called the “Area 52” tour. The duo will kick off their tour on May 12th in Napa, California at the Bottle Rock Festival. The band will then continue to tour around the country delivering audiences with performances of some of their biggest songs to date. The tour will keep the band on the road through August 3rd, where they will finish up their tour in Boston, MA. Tickets for the group’s shows are on sale and available to the public right now.

Another big announcement of the week came when TD Garden and Live Nation revealed that they would be hosting an event called Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration. The event will be help on Thursday May 30th at the TD Garden and is designed to benefit The One Fund Boston after the tragic events that took place at the Boston Marathon. The event will feature performances from bands like Aerosmith, Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, Boston, Extreme, Dane Cook, New Kids on the Block and more. Tickets are on sale now.

This Week In Music

This week, music fans of all types were excited when two of the biggest bands from the 1990s announced they would be teaming up for a new concert tour event in 2013. The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers, who are fresh off recent tours in Australia and Europe, have revealed that they will be kicking off a new tour of North America this summer. The tour is slated to kick off on June 14th in Farmingville, New York. This trek across North America will feature stops in Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago and more and will end on July 21st with a performance in Costa Mesa, California. Tickets for the shows are on sale now and available to the public.

Another big announcement in the music world came today when the lineup for the UPROAR Festival was revealed. The annual festival will feature performances from over a dozen different acts and will tour around the country for two months. This will be the fourth annual UPROAR festival and headliners will includes Jane’s Addiction, Coheed and Cambria and Alice in Chains. The tour kicks off on August 9th at the Toyota Pavilion in Pennsylvania. Tickets go on sale next month for the tour.
