This week, there were several big announcements from some of the biggest acts in popular music. The first major announcement came from hit singer Lorde. The singer and songwriter has just announced that she will be spending the fall curating a new soundtrack for the next movie installment of “The Hunger Games” franchise. The singer will be working on the project, while preparing for her upcoming fall tour. According to announcements from the singer, this highly anticipated fall tour will kick off on September 5th in Philadelphia, PA. From there the young songstress will head to several major markets across the continent. During this city, Lorde, will be visiting 21 different cities including two stops in Canada. On October 12th, the singer will also be making an appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Tickets for this highly anticipated tour are on sale now and available to the public for those looking to see the performer live.

Ryan Adams and Paul McCartney News

Performer Ryan Adams, just announced he is preparing to release a new album, titled “Gimmie Something Good,” later this year. The record, which will be released on September 9th and to promote the new effort, the singer will be embarking on a new fall tour. During this outing, the singer will visit several major markets including the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee on October 14th, marking his first visit to the city since 2007. Other stops along the way include concerts in Portland, Boulder, Burlington, Chicago and St. Louis. Tickets for these shows are on sale now and available to the public. During this outing, Adams will be visiting several intimate venues to give fans the opportunity to see the singer in an up close and personal tour event. The tour officially kicks off on July 22nd and wraps up on October 20th.

Summer Can’t Get Here Fast Enough

This week some of the biggest rock legends in the business revealed plans for a new summer outing that are sure to have rockers excited for the upcoming season. According to an announcement from Styx, Foreigner and the former Eagles guitarist Don Felder; the three rockers will be joining forces for an exciting new event. The tour will be called “The Soundtrack of Summer” tour and it will head out around the country this summer. The tour will officially kick off on May 16th in Oklahoma City, California. From there the group will visit 33 major markets before the tour wraps up in Santa Barbara, California on July 27th. Felder will be the opening act for all concerts while Styk and Foreigner will rotate with closing duties. According to the team behind the event, more dates are expected to be revealed soon. During the concert, fans can expect to hear some of the biggest singles from all of the rockers, including a special new re-recorded version of “Hotel California.” Tickets are on sale now for the tour.

700 Sundays and Miley Cyrus

In the middle of the week, two of the most well-known performers in the entertainment business made two very different announcements about their upcoming scheduled performances. One of the first announcements of the week came from the multi-talented Billy Crystal. The actor revealed that he will be making his official return to the Broadway stage with his Tony Award winning play, 700 Sundays. This unique play is actually an autobiographical re-telling of his childhood, in Manhattan. The actor will be taking on the roles of several different parts, playing different characters that had influenced his life as a child. When the show originally debuted in 2005, it won a Tony Award and now the actor is looking to bring the show back to the stage. The production will officially re-open on November 13th at the Imperial Theatre in New York City. The run is scheduled to last through January 5th. Tickets are on sale now and available to the public for those looking to see this unique performance unfold live.

Phish Tour and More

This week, the legendary rock group Phish revealed new plans for an upcoming tour. The Vermont band has just revealed that they will be performing a four night run in New York City’s Madison Square Garden to celebrate New Year’s Eve this year. This special four night concert event will help ring in 2014. These newly announced tour dates will be added to the bands seven remaining tour stops that they have on their current tour event. Currently the band is on the road promoting their latest album, and still has stops in Hampton, VA, Atlantic City, NJ and more. The four night concert event will start on December 28th in New York City at the Madison Square Garden Arena and will wrap up on December 31st. Tickets go on sale to the general public on October 12th to see the band perform live.

Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar

This week, may live entertainment fans have been reeling because both college and professional football has returned over the week. While seeing some of these top football teams take the field live are undoubtedly the focus of many, there is another hot ticket that even more are talking about, as this week rap superstar Kanye West made a major announcement about his upcoming tour plans. 

Rock and Roll

The private performer who has taken a long hiatus from touring has just announced that he will be heading out on a new 23 stop tour that will take him all across North America. This new tour event will be promoting the rapper’s latest album “Yeezus.” This is the same album that debuted this year and quickly shot to the top of the Billboard Top 200 charts. 

 

The performer also revealed that he will be joined on stage with opening act, Kendrick Lamar. During all but five of the stops of this new tour event, Kendrick Lamar will serve as the opening act for the performer on “The Yeezus Tour.” The tour, which is being presented by AEG live has been long anticipated by both fans of the performer and those in the music industry. The tour is slated to officially open on October 19th in Seattle, Washington. From there Kanye West will head out on several additional stops before he closes out the tour on December 7th in Houston, Texas.

This Week In Music

This week, music fans of all types were excited when two of the biggest bands from the 1990s announced they would be teaming up for a new concert tour event in 2013. The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers, who are fresh off recent tours in Australia and Europe, have revealed that they will be kicking off a new tour of North America this summer. The tour is slated to kick off on June 14th in Farmingville, New York. This trek across North America will feature stops in Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago and more and will end on July 21st with a performance in Costa Mesa, California. Tickets for the shows are on sale now and available to the public.

Another big announcement in the music world came today when the lineup for the UPROAR Festival was revealed. The annual festival will feature performances from over a dozen different acts and will tour around the country for two months. This will be the fourth annual UPROAR festival and headliners will includes Jane’s Addiction, Coheed and Cambria and Alice in Chains. The tour kicks off on August 9th at the Toyota Pavilion in Pennsylvania. Tickets go on sale next month for the tour.

Summer Fun

This week more information on one of the biggest musical events of the year, Lollapalooza, was released. It was revealed that the annual festival will be returning once again this year to Grant Park in Chicago from August 2nd-4th. The festival will have eight different stages of performers and once again will feature a massive line up of bands. This week the daily line ups for the event were revealed with top performers such as The Killers, Mumford and Sons, The Postal Service and more all making appearances at the event. As the festival plans for the event to sell out, they will be releasing 60,000 single day tickets for Wednesday April 3rd for the festival. Other tickets for the event, including passes will go on sale at the end of this week.
