With New Year’s Eve on the horizon, several live theatrical productions will be making their final performances this week before closing for the holiday season. The world of Broadway was dealt some other big news this week with the death of two iconic Broadway actors who have recently passed away, Charles Durning and Jack Klugman. Both actors passed away this Monday and Broadway will be paying tribute to the fallen actors this Friday evening during all of their performances to observe the passing of these two talented performers.

All Broadway productions will be paying homage to the actors. This includes the highly anticipated Broadway musical “Dead Accountants” starring famed movie actress Katie Holmes. The production, which was highly anticipated by both Broadway fans and fans of the actress just announced it will be closing two months early and play its final performance on January 6th. Those who want to see Holmes take the stage live and see this modern musical in person will want to get their tickets now before the production ends.

Meanwhile in the world of sports, all eyes are on the NFL playoffs, more specifically all eyes are on who will be making a playoff berth in the final stretch of the season. This has had football fans focusing their attention on the Sunday Night football game between the Redskins and Cowboys in which the two power house teams will be facing off against one another to determine who will win the NFC East and earn an automatic playoff position. This week the city of New York will be treated to a unique opportunity to buy tickets to one of the biggest events to come to the Big Apple in Years.  Cirque Du Soleil Totem, the new live Cirque show is coming to New York City next spring and tickets to the event will start going on sale beginning on November 20th for members of the Cirque Club and to the general public on November 30th. Cirque du Soleli is the most popular live production of its type in today’s live performance world and the performance Totem has already been performed in front of 2 million audience members. Finally, after years of waiting, the live Cirque du Soleli production will finally be making its way to New York City. This wasn’t the only big announcement to hit the Broadway this week. Hip hop fans were given a treat this week when it was revealed that Grammy winning performer; R. Kelly will be bringing his multi-part hit musical “Trapped in the Closet’ to the Broadway stage. The new ‘Hip Hopera’ is expected to have a 2013 release date and tickets will start going on sale after the New Year. The announcement came after R. Kelly announced he would be adding new chapters to his current chapters of the hit musical selection.

Kelly is not the only celebrity who will be making their way to the Broadway stage. Hit television and movie actress and notable celebrity Katie Holmes will be making her way to the Broadway stage this winter in what promises to be one of the hottest tickets this winter. The actress has garnered a great deal of attention since she announced that she would be hitting the Broadway stage in a live production of Dead Accountants.
