Red Sox Tickets Will Not Be Cheap For Final Series Of The Year

By David Jacobs | August 17th, 2014

The Boston Red Sox have certainly not lived up to expectations this season, but that doesn’t mean Red Sox tickets will be any cheaper for the final series of the year. In fact, those three games will end up being the most expensive tickets all season long for Boston, other than their ring ceremony at the home opener. No, fans are not willing to pay extra to see their beloved Sox play one more series in 2014. They will be paying to see the New York Yankees, and in particular, shortstop Derek Jeter.

Yankees vs red sox rivalry

The Yankee captain announced he would retire at the end of the season back in Spring Training and with the Yankees seemingly losing ground in the Wild Card each and every day, it appears Jeter’s last time on the diamond will be on September 26th, 27th, and 28th at Fenway Park. With the Red Sox out of the playoff race, and a strong probability that the Yankees will be as well, the series will be much more ceremonial than if either team were still playing for something.  Expect videos, photographs, and collages galore, praising the longevity of Derek Jeter and what he brought to sport’s greatest rivalry.
