This week, music fans are sure to be excited for the upcoming medley of big concert events hitting the live music scene. One of the first and biggest announcements came from the Grammy Award winning rockers, Mumford and Sons. The group revealed that they would be taking the road for a new concert tour event across North America this summer and visiting some of the biggest venues in the entire country. The event, known as the “Summer Stampede” event will kick off on May 21st in Calgary. The tour will be taking the band on the road to some of the biggest venues in the entire country and tickets for the event are on sale to the public now.

Another big concert tour event is being headlined by three of the biggest bands of the 1990s. The rockers Everclear will be headlining their second annual Summerland tour and will be joined on stage by two other chart topping bands, Filter and Sponge. The rockers will be visiting some of the biggest venues in the United States with the tour that begins on May 29th in Ft. Myers, FL. The 33 city tour will keep the band on the road throughout July. Tickets go on sale to the public this week for those looking to see Everclear live in concert.

However, the biggest announcement of the week was undoubtedly the announcement of the Great Googa Mooga. This music event not only features big name headliners but also food and beers from hundreds of different establishments as well. The event will be returning to Brooklyn this May and will be hosted May 17th-19th. Headliners for the massive music festival will include rockers such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Flaming Lips, Matt and Kim, the Darkness, Sharon Jones and more. Tickets are on sale and available to the public now for those who are looking to visit the Great Googa Mooga festival in New York; however, those interested in the show are encouraged to act fast before tickets sell out. The music world has been treated to several big ticketing announcements this week as several bands have revealed that they would be hitting the road in 2013 for new tours. One of the first big announcements of the year came from Major Lazer as the group revealed they would be hitting the road for their “Free The Universe” World Tour. This new tour announcement came straight from main DJ of the group; Diplo as he revealed the group would be heading out on the road beginning on February 28th. The tour will kick off on February 28th in Toronto and the band will visit 34 different cities and 12 different countries on this tour. The tour will be in support of the group’s new album and tickets for the tour will be on sale this week.

Other rock news announcements of the week came from rock groups The Black Keys and the Flaming Lips. The groups announced that they would be heading out and doing several performances together this spring, in a unique live performance spectacular that fans will not want to miss out on. Both bands are known for their signature high energy performance style and for delivering some of this most energetic liver performances in the business; meaning this will be a big treat for live music fans. Tickets for the shows will go on sale to the public Friday January 11th.

While many rock fans are on the edges of their seats waiting for these big 2013 performance dates; the world of live theatre had some announcements of its own as it was revealed that a new Broadway musical would be hitting the stage this week. The Sharr White drama of the mystery of the mind called The Other Place; will be opening on January 10th on Broadway. This highly anticipated event will star award winning actress Laurie Metcalf and will be held at the Smaule J. Friedman Theatre in New York. Tickets for the play are now on sale and available to the public so those looking to see Metcalf in this new role in this mysterious medical drama will want to get their tickets now.
