This week, the eclectic dance music festival, known as the Ultra Music Festival revealed plans for its 2014 event. According to reports, the dance music festival will be making its return to Miami on March 28th. This will be the 16th year for the event, which will keep going through March 30th. Unlike previous events, next year’s festival will only be one weekend. Although no information will be released about the concert for some time, on sales will be starting next week. For the 2013 concert, early bird tickets sold out in just five minutes, so organizers are once again expecting these tickets to go fast. Sales begin on Tuesday May 21st.
In other concert music news, Lollapalooza has officially released its schedule for its 2013 festival season. The organizers behind the event revealed that there will be more than 100 different artists performing at the three day event. This Chicago festival will be taking place on August 2nd and will run through August 4th. According to the official line up for the event, artists will include Kendrick Lamar, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, The Cure and more. Tickets are still on sale for the festival now.
Finally, the other big announcement regarding the music news for the week came from the wildly popular boy band One Direction. While the group is currently gearing up for their 2013 US summer tour, they are also announcing information about their plans for 2013. The band revealed the first official dates for their 2014 event known as the Where We Are stadium tour. This tour is set to kick off on April 25th in Bogata, Columbia. During the tour event, the boy band will visit some of the biggest arenas in the entire world. This will include stops in South America, Ireland and the UK. The band also revealed that they have plans in place to add more stops on this massive global tour.

This week one of the most legendary performers of all time, Sir Paul McCartney announced that he would be adding new shows to his 2013 “Out There” tour. The announcement came as a surprise to music fans and to the many who have been looking forward to see the performer and former Beatle take the stage live. Among the new performances that Paul McCartney has added are shows at the Amway Center in Florida for May 18th, a show in Tennessee at the Fedex Forum on May 26th, a performance at Fenway Parkin Massachusetts on July 9th and more. All of these shows will provide fans with greater opportunities to see Paul McCartney in a rare live tour performance event. Tickets for the newly added shows and for the rest of the dates on the performer’s worldwide tour are on sale and available to the public now. Those who want to see Paul McCartney perform live will not want to miss out on this opportunity to see him take the stage in person.
While it may seem hard for music fans to get more excited than they have been about the recent Paul McCartney, another big music announcement was released this week when Jay Z announced the official line up for his 2013 Made in America Festival. Music fans have been waiting anxiously to hear the official announcement from the rapper about who would appear in the festival and who would be taking the stage for the event This week, the performing artist and mogul released the official line up for the Philadelphia based festival which will have more than 30 different artists taking the stage.
The headliners for the event will be Beyoncé and Nine Inch Nails. Other big performers to take the stage at the music festival will be Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, Queens of the Stone Age, Phoenix, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and more. The event is expected to be one of the biggest of the year and to pull in major crowds. The concert event will be held in Philadelphia on Labor Day weekend, August 31st through September 1st. This week it was revealed that the hit band Phish would be taking the road in a new live tour event. The wildly popular jam band has been part of the music scene for years and is often hailed as one of the most popular bands to see live in concert. Much to the delight of fans from all over the country, the Vermont-based rockers will be heading out on a tour that will start this summer. The 2013 Phish summer tour event will features several multiple-night stays in venues such as Commerce City, Colorado, Saratoga Springs and San Francisco. The band will be performing three nights in a row during these three spots. Although the band is making a handful of several night residencies, fans should still get their tickets early as this group is known for selling out some of the biggest arenas in the country fast night after night. This is the second annual Firefly Festival and the show hopes to follow in the footsteps of its wildly successful first year. The festival, which takes place at the Woodlands of the Dover International Speedway is scheduled to take place from June 21-23rd. The festival is slated to have acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foster the People and More. With spring right around the corner, it means that its once again the time of year for music festival tickets to go on sale. This week three of the biggest music festivals announced their ticket sales and it was revealed that some of the biggest acts in music will once again be heading to these all day festivals this summer. One of the first announcements for late spring music festivals came from the Sweetlife Festival. This annual music festival is held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD every year and this year will take place on May 11th. Headliners of the event include Passion Hit, Solange, the Yeah Yeah Teahs and Kendrick Lamar. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, February 8th to the public.
Another big music festival announcement came from down south at the Shaky Knees Music Festival. This annual Atlanta music festival will be taking place May 4-5 and the official line up will be featuring acts such as Gary Clark Jr. and the wildly popular band The Lumineers. Tickets for the annual event will be going on sale February 7th. Fans will be able to buy two day passes to the event which will give them access to all three concert stages and all of the festival activities.
Later on in the month of May, The Lumineers will also be playing at the Sasquatch Music Festival. This Memorial Day weekend music festival will last for four days and is held at the world renowned Gorge in Quincy, Washington. In addition to hosting The Lumineers the festival will also be hosting groups such as the Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, Mumford and Sons, and Dropkick Murphy’s. Ticket will go on sale later in the month; but fans will want to make sure they act fast as this annual music festival is known for selling out.
