This week, many may have head their sights set on the college men’s basketball national championship game and all of the free concerts being offered in Atlanta as part of the event, but this week, the world of entertainment is being treated to a number of new and exciting announcements that have many geared up for the summer and all of the excitement it will bring now that ‘March Madness’ is over. One of the biggest announcements of the week still came from the world of basketball. With just a few games left in the regular NBA season, some of the qualifying teams for the 2013 NBA playoffs have been announced this week; getting many basketball fans excited for the upcoming playoffs that are set to kick off at the end of the month. Teams that have already clinched a definitive spot in the 2013 playoffs include the San Antonio Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat. The schedule for the NBA playoffs as well as ticketing information is expected to be released next week.

In another type of exciting live entertainment; a new announcement came from the creative minds behind the hit Broadway musical “Once.” The Tony Award winning musical production is set to head out on a new theatre run to help bring the hit musical to more audiences across the country. This week the creative minds behind “Once” announced that the production would be beginning its Phoenix Theatre run and that it would be opening at West End Phoenix Theatre on April 9th. The critically acclaimed musical will be playing at the theatre for an extended run.  Tickets to see “Once” live and on stage in Phoenix are now available to the public.

However, the biggest announcement of the week undoubtedly came from iconic rocker Kid Rock. The platinum selling artist announced this week that he would be hitting the road for a new summer tour event. All of the tickets for the tour will be offered to fans for just $20 as a way to help bring a more affordable concert experience to fans across the country. The tour called the “$20 Best Night Ever Tour” will take the rocker across the country all summer to some of the biggest venues in the USA. Broadway and Off Broadway

The theatrical world received a big treat this week when the play Water by the Spoonful hit the NYC stage this week. This play was written by Quiara Alegria Hudes and was the 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner in the drama category. This much talked about drama covering topics like addiction, recovery, family and military has captured the hearts of many already and will be hitting the Second Stage Theatre in NYC this week for live performances. Tickets are now on sale to see this much talked about production live.

While this low key performance will have many inspired, a much larger scale production is taking place down the street in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are currently on sale and productions are in full swing for the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Live production. The live musical event will feature famed actor Jeff McCarthy as the Grinch and the play will feature the classic music from the major motion picture. This event will be held in the massive Madison Square Garden arena in New York City and is expected to sell out night after night as thousands of families come to get in the holiday spirit and see this production live. Tickets are still on sale for a few performances that will run through December 30th.

One of the biggest announcements of the week however came from the when it was revealed that the Broadway League would be participating in show for Kids’ Night on Broadway. This annual event was designed to help kids and families get more involved in the world of Broadway and to experience all that live theatre has to offer. The recent announcement about the Kids’ Night on Broadway revealed that the event will take place from February 25th through March 3rd. During this time productions such as Annie, Drood, Once, Newsies, Cinderella and Spiderman will be participating as well as a few off-Broadway shows. Tickets for those ages 6-18 who want to attend a show will be free as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.
