This week it was revealed that several big live performance events would be hitting the stage for fans of live theatre. One of the first and biggest announcements of the week came when it was revealed that Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays would be returning to the stage for eight performances of the hit 2012 musical comedy A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Returning to the stage by popular demand, the production will be holding eight performances at The Old Globe theatre in San Diego, California. Since performances are limited the tickets are expecting to go quickly. Those who are looking to get tickets to the event will want to act fast as they are sure to sell out quickly.

Another big live event that is making its return to the stage is one of the most popular musicals of all time, the Phantom of the Opera. A newly revamped version of the production with new leads and performers will be hitting the Broadway stage in March of 2013. Those who are looking to get tickets to see the new fresh faces of this production will be able to get their Phantom of the Opera tickets on sale now.

Another big live performance event that has many people talking is the new live production of Orphans. This highly anticipated Broadway production will begin its previews on March 26th and tickets to see these preview performances are going on sale now. The production will feature several big name performers including Alec Baldwin, Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge. The production, helmed by Lyle Kessler will only be playing in a limited engagement so those who are looking to get tickets to see the production live will want to make sure that they get their tickets fast. Since there will only be a few select performances of this highly anticipated production, seats are expected to sell out quickly to this much talked about live event. With the close of 2012 fast approaching; many new announcements have been revealed this week regarding the 2013 schedule for live performances and tours. One of the biggest announcements to come this week came with Trokia Entertainment announced the cast and the kickoff of the national tour of the highly anticipated musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. The new tour will take the over-the-top performance to venues across the country; beginning in Minneapolis, MN. The production will kick off at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on January 8, 2013. Tickets for the tour will go on sale later in the month.

Meanwhile, 2013 will also usher in another classic musical when the hit The Phantom of the Opera gets a remake for the 2013 season. Broadway actor Marc Kudisch announced this week that he will be directing the world premiere of Neil Berg’s The Phantoms of the Opera; which will hit the stage in 2013. The live event and new take on the classic love story will debut on April 4-5, 2013 at Rudder Auditorium. Tickets have yet to go on sale as the official casting won’t be made until early 2013 after auditions are completed in New York City. Fans of the original will want to keep their eyes open for official ticket sales in January as this remake already promises to be a must-see for theatre fans.

Another tour announcement also came this week when it was revealed that the wildly successful tour of the live production of Jesus Christ Superstar will also return to the stage in 2013. The tour, which just ended a U.K. arena tour will resume in March of 2013 and mark the shows 40th anniversary. The Andrea Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice production will hit the road in March and feature Tim Minchin, Chris Moyles, Alexander Hanson, Ben Forester and former Spice Girl, Melanie C. The tour will begin performances at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena on March 10th and then tour around the world to arenas all over the globe. Based on the past success of the previous arena tour; tickets are expected to sell out right away for the event. Tickets for the 2013 productions will go one sale beginning on December 7th, so make sure you get yours right away!
