The Elephant Man and Radio City Christmas Spectacular

This week, the Broadway revival of The Elephant Man officially started its previews. The show will be taking place at the Booth Theatre. This highly anticipated production stars two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper in the title role. The film star is also joined on stage by Patricia Clarkson and Alessandro Nivola. Previews start this weekend, on November 7th at the Booth Theatre. Cooper has already played the Elephant Man (aka John Merrick) at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2012, but theater fans are excited to see the actor get the full Broadway treatment with this new revival. The official opening for the production is December 7th, but plenty of attention has already been placed on the limited previews. The production will include a 13-week engagement, and is set to officially wrap up on February 15th. Tickets to see the previews of this show are on sale now, as are tickets to the official production. With a limited number of scheduled shows, fans will want to get their tickets to see The Elephant Man soon before they sell out.

December Is The Biggest Broadway Month Of The Year

This week, there were several big announcements about upcoming live musical performances that have been unleashed just in time for the holiday season. Now that the holiday season is in full swing, it is time for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City. The 90 minute show features 140 different performers including the Rockettes who will be taking the stage live. The number of shows being held will continue to increase as Christmas gets closer. This is a classic, family-friendly tradition that has been a part of New York City tradition for years. Tickets are on sale now for the show, which will run through December 30th.

New York City is also home to another big holiday production for those who are fans of live ballet. George Balanchine’s magical version of the classic play, The Nutcracker comes to life in an exciting event. This production is a new vision of the Tchaikovsky classic score. This ballet features a levitating tree and stunning costumes, setting and performances. The play is being held at the Kock Theatre at Lincoln Center and will continue shows through January 4th. With the new year fast approaching, for college football fans it means its time for college bowl season. Most importantly, it means the BCS National Championship game.
