This week there were a number of big announcements in the world of sports. With the 2013 NBA basketball season coming to a close, the official conference playoffs will be held this coming week. The Eastern Conference playoff match ups are still waiting to be announced, while the Western Conference will be featuring a matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies. Tickets for the conference finals are on sale now and available to the public for those who want to see the conference NBA championships in person and to see who will make it to the professional basketball championships.

In other sports news, the NHL Winter Classic made its own announcement this week as well. Due to the 2013 NHL lockout the January 1st games that was slated to take place between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the NHL will be rescheduling the matchup for New Year’s Day of 2014. The event will be billed as the NHL Winter Classic and will pit the teams against each other at the University of Michigan. The NHL is hoping that the event will help them set the world record for attendance at a hockey game. Tickets for the event will be going on sale this month.

Also revealed this week were plans for the upcoming Rock the Bells event. This week it was revealed that the Wu-Tang Clan, Tyler the Creator and the Big Krit will all be attending the 2014 Rock the Bells Festival. In addition to these performers there will also be holographic images of hip hop icons that have passed away including ODB and Easy E. The festival will be a traveling hip hop event and it will kick off in San Bernardino, California on September 7th-8th. Other stops will include Washington DC, Mountain View, CA and Rutherford, NJ. Each event will last two days. The total roster will include other performers such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Kid Cudi and more.

Fortunately for fans, this week marked the reveal of the 2013 Firefly Festival concert lineup. This is the second annual Firefly Festival and the show hopes to follow in the footsteps of its wildly successful first year. The festival, which takes place at the Woodlands of the Dover International Speedway is scheduled to take place from June 21-23rd. The festival is slated to have acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foster the People and More. Tickets and all day passes for the event will go on sale this month, but those who want to attend the festival live will want to act fast as it is expected to sell out.
